I don't know. I think he let him fight his fight. I mean Ricky Hatton just drove him to the ropes so many times. Refs like Jay Nady, Kenny Bayless (thank god he wasn't the ref. Worst ref ever), and hell even Steve Smoger wouldn't let them push floyd like that. I think Smoger would have let the fighting be more frequent, but not the pushing.
One thing Hatton didn't do though, the body shots. What happened here? I thought that was his gameplan. Work the angles and punish the body.
So I don't think the ref didn't do that much except for standing in the ****ing way and the **** in round 2 where he called 3 time outs. The point deduction is argueable, but didn't make a difference either way. Floyd knocked him out.
The ring had no advantage to Floyd at all. He was fighting Hatton's fight and winning. He didn't dance around or anything. He didn't even circle or throw the left hand and back up.
Actually he was in Floyd's face too. Always taping on his elbow and **** to let go while Hatton was just pounding away on the other side. But still, he gave Hatton his chances and was pretty fair on both sides. It's like his catch phrase, "Fair but firm"
The only problem I had was he was in the ****ing way of the camera.

Definatly, if you watch the fight again, watch Joe Cortez, he has his eyes firmly affixed to Ricky Hatton the whole fight. Mayweather could have been kicking Hatton in the nuts and Joe Cortez wouldn't have seen a thing
