he may not any of the names you mentioned but he is well on hs way to becoming a household name. if he continues to win and appear on latenight t.v , it will be hard not to know the name floyd mayweather jr. plain and simple he's more popular than hatton
To tell you the truth, I don't really care. Surely Floyd is better known than Hatton. Floyd is an American with the American sports media covering his career. But, on the other hand I can guarantee you that Hatton is better known in Britain than Floyd is in America. (on a per capita basis)

of course he is. here in the usa we have hundreds of professional atheletes that every citizen in the usa can relate too. boxing and soccer are the only things going on there. so i would agree

That's about it.
Do you think Hatton will ever be known "outside of the boxing public"?
        I don't think so.
He will be another name, as you seem to feel, on Mayweathers record.
Those fights had a WHOLE lot more going for them then this fight could even compare to.
Those are all time fights. Wars. Race. Good vs Evil.
        You want to know why?
No cable, no intrawebs, no direct t.v.
Nothing can compare to the all time fights anymore in terms of world wide recognition.
The masses held those fighters up to be legends.
        Now we get 24/7.
You see what I'm saying Wiley?
        **** is all ****ed up..

To tell you the truth, I really don't care. I'll watch Hatton though. I know that.

Ahhh but you DO care Wiley. And thats a GREAT thing.
I will be on this forum even if Mayweather takes a "CRUSHING DEFEAT"
And I think YOU will be on this forum if Hatton gets his ass whooped.
The main thing is, we both follow the sport of boxing.
There is a lot of honor in this sport. Tremendous history.
I've already said before, if Hatton wins, I'll be on the minute it happens.
              And thats the truth.
If Mayweather wins, well, there are a couple of folks that are going to get clowned.
Either way, I will be watching on a 57 inch screen, in HD.
              No sopcast for me.
