I don't buy that Joe needs Hopkins, there is Roy which would be still be a pleasing fight to watch and the winner of Pavlik?Taylor. JC is the undisputed champion with 21 defences and has selling power in the UK.

Hopkins is a smart guy, he knows he is going to lose. He wants the lions share because he'll need it for his retirement fund.
