  • Calzaghe Turns Down Hopkins Fight Offer

    NEWS FLASH
    Calzaghe rejects Hopkins offer!
Unbeaten WBC/WBA/WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe says he has rejected an offer from Golden Boy to fight Bernard Hopkins. "To be honest, the offer wasn't as much as I got for the Kessler fight so from a business point of view the deal doesn't make sense for me," Super Joe told Wales on Sunday. "Hopkins must really convince me with hard cash that he really wants this fight because I'm not sure he does." Calzaghe, who will be at in Las Vegas to cheer on countryman Ricky Hatton next Saturday, added that Hopkins is still his #1 target but only if the numbers add up. He also dismissed a possible bout against IBF light heavyweight champion Clinton Woods saying "While Clinton has a title, he is not a big name and will not get American TV excited – and I want to keep them happy as that's where the money is."

They should split down to 50/50...

Depends on how much the offer was. A lot of fighters reject fights if the money doesn't make sense.

That's bull**** and you know it, Calzaghe offered to fight B-Hop a long time ago, but B-Hop refused because he was unknown, I guess B-Hop must have been scared of Calzaghe at the time right?

If there is money in the fight then Calzaghe deserves to get paid more than he made in his last fight, I think B-hop does deserve a bit more than JC but thats just a bit more.

I can't blame him he deserves to get MORE money than he did facing Kessler.

The overall purse will be bigger than Calz/Kessler. Hopkins just wanted a bigger split of the purse- and rightfully so.

Joe shouldn't argue f Bernard wants it split 60/40, to be honest. We know who will be putting fans into the seats.
