Was Cotto More Than You Expected?

Top caliber stuff. ^Well those of us who have followed Cotto since early on have seen that he is capable of boxing like that(Pinto, Abdulaev, Ceballos, N'dou). Whether or not he would bring out the old Miguel was up in the air. The only thing I was sure of was that he'd be using his jab. I didn't expect him to be so accurate and quick with his right hand. That was the quickest he's looked since the Pinto fight.
What impressed me the most was the fact that he came into the fight with a perfect game plan. He prepared in camp to use that straight right because he (or his uncle) knew even a prime Mosley was vulnerable to that punch. I just didn't think it would have such a huge impact considering Cotto's right hand was always just solid, similar to Oscar's.
I mean Mosley prepared for body punching and uppercuts. Cotto flipped the switch, and fought a completely different fight. If you take away a fighter's best weapon, and he can still rise to the occasion and win the fight, you have to respect that.Comment

It was a different fight, but when you have someone like Hatton calling him "crude" in against Judah, and then Mosley saying that Cotto surprised him with how "fluid" he was - I think we have a ****ing discrepency.. HaHA.
It's funny how some expose themselves by overlooking a question like this - but major respect to the guys who have posted so far.

Your right, but I wasn't actually blaming shane because everybody, experts and so called experts, thought that if cotto were to win it would have been by breaking down mosely with body punches. So logically Mosley prepared for that. I believe mosley was both perplexed by cottos technical resolve, as well as his cotto's ability to take punches and keep coming. As he later statedComment

Cotto has always been a good boxer he just fell in love with throwing power punches and bullying his opponents. I expected him to beat Mosley but he showed the complete package, he brawled and boxed, really impressive.Comment

That right hand, with the possible exception of his ability to take a puch, suprised me the most. And in my opinion, although this wasn't the mosley of circa 2000, say what u will, he wasn't shot either. Most importantly, Cotto did this against top level comp.Well those of us who have followed Cotto since early on have seen that he is capable of boxing like that(Pinto, Abdulaev, Ceballos, N'dou).
