But lets put it this way one more time.
If Joe calzaghe is such a draw, why do HBO make him free to air, when he could be selling all these PPV's and making money?Comment

Well, it's not a matter of being a Calzaghe "fan". It's a matter of getting to see a fight that probably won't be made now because Hopkins overplayed his damn hand. Calzaghe is the draw here, not Hopkins (not anymore at least). Hopkins has had PPV stinkers for the last 5 years or so. He's at the end of his career. He can't pull his weight without a quality opponent to pull the numbers. He needs Calzaghe more than Calzaghe needs him, IMO. That's the issue.I love the way Calzaghe's fans are building him up as some sort of god amongst men. Just because he beat an overhyped Lacy and an overrated Kessler, all of a sudden he's the greatest. You can find guys on Hopkins record equal to Lacy or Kessler in either Howard Eastman, Robert Allan or Keith Holmes.
The fact of the matter is that the general boxing audience still barely knows Calzaghe, prior to the Lacy fight, nobody knew who the hell he was. Then he gained a tad bit of fame worldwide with that performance, then he barely survived Bika, he then went on to get a horrible bull**** stoppage against Manfredo, a guy from "The Contender". Then he just now beat Kessler.
All good wins but it doesn't take away form the fact that most of the Worldwide boxing audience is just now learning how to pronounce Calzaghe's last name. While Hopkins has been a mainstay in the worldwide equation for the better part of over 10 years.
I can understand liking Joe and supporting him but you guys are seriously cum-drunk. How the hell is Calzaghe entitled to any advantage over Hopkins when it will be Hops' title on the line, Calzaghe's biggest pay day to date, and Hopkins who has the better record overall and more established name.
If Joe is really interested in fighting the best he'll concede to Hopkins' demands, because that's what Hopkins has earned over the last decade.
I'm not going to go tit-for-tat with anybody here because I have neither the energy nor patience for it today, but I'll leave you all with this....
If Joe Calzaghe wants to cement his legacy as one of the best ever, he needs to start taking some risk, something he's never done in his career thus far aside from Kessler. If he wants people to look back on his career in a positive light many years from now, now is the time to step up. Take the pay cut, go to America and beat Hopkins at his own game. That would be saying something, otherwise take your negotiations off the table and go fight another bum somewhere in Wales infront of 50,000 brainwashed fans and be happy with that.Comment

DO YOU EVEN KNOW BERNARD HOPKINS IS? HE DOESNT HAVE A BELT FFS.That was a completly different story
-Roy was the draw
-Roy beat him already
So b hop was being ****** that time (ducking jones).
Now when it comes to calzaghe
-B Hop is the bigger name
-B hop's title could be at stake (depending on weight)
-B-hop is a proven PPV seller
-Calzaghe is free to air
Quite simply, b hop gets the lions share, otherwise calzaghe can go to sheffield and fight clinton woods for peanuts cos that the alternative.
Calzaghe will make real money even if he takes 40%, and its a fight he can win too.Comment

It's the history of the sport man. The bigger name always demands more money, and usually more than that (fight location, size of ring, gloves to be worn, etc....). Joe just needs to accept what Hopkins is offering otherwise he'll always be a question mark in my eyes. Many great fighters over the years have swallowed their pride for the opportunity to mix it up with a hall of famer. Joe is no different.Comment

Hopkins may need Calzaghe to sell a good PPV but Hopkins does not need Joe to cement his legacy, he's already done that as a hall of famer. Joe on the other hand......Well, it's not a matter of being a Calzaghe "fan". It's a matter of getting to see a fight that probably won't be made now because Hopkins overplayed his damn hand. Fine. You think Hopkins is a PPV superstar. He used be a pretty good draw, but he's not anymore. It's as simple as that. I disagree with you that he is a bigger draw than Calzaghe. Not after Kessler he isn't. Calzaghe's stock is on the rise. Hopkins' is not. Sorry.Only in your own mind idiot, i mean, even now, your still trying to pretend Calzaghe is a bigger draw then Hopkins, which is ****ing rediculous, when b hop is the bigger name, has made more money.
You must know something HBO dont, cos if calzaghe was a bigger draw than Hopkins, why the **** would they make him free to air every single time, when he could be selling all these PPV'S
Are you saying HBO are deliberatley losing money?
Idiot.

Lmao, thats all you got? acutally he had the IBO, dont know if he's got rid of it.
You still telling me Setanta Sports makes real money, 200k subscribers, paying £9.99, even if EVERY SINGLE SUBSCRIBER BOUGHT HIS FIGHTS, the money would still be ****.

calzaghe aint ppv because he aitn american. it is his or frank warrens fault for not going to america. maybe hopkins did price himself out 4 years ago who knows?
if joe was born in america he would get much more hype than pavlik. that is my opinion. if calzaghe was american then i think he would already get the opportunities to fight bigger names. he would be world famous althoguh perhaps with 2 or 3 losses.
joe has only just gone on hbo. it was with the bika fight which was ****.
joe vs lacy was on showtime which aint as good as hbo. the manfredo fight was a joke that i didnt want for joe but if it did get some exposure then good for him.Comment

Well, I don't think Joe needs Bernard to cement his legacy. Beating Bernard would certainly help, but Joe doesn't have to have Hopkins on his resume to do it. Undefeated champ for 10+ years speaks for itself.Comment
