Taylor proved to himself that he had the power and ability to hurt Kelly if he wants to, and now he also has respect for how hard Pavlik can hit. That kind of insight is going to lead him to fight smarter and with more confidence the second fight.
Taylor To Exercise Rematch Clause For Pavlik

Yeah I guess that's the most important factor. If he's taken the fight, it means he's been sitting at home for the last month probabaly in bits with himself, and the only way to get rid of the pain is to right back in for the rematch. But like you're saying, the bravery doesn't mean he won't be afraid of that power, which cld be a problem yeah.Comment

In fairness man, I think he was asleep, didn't you see the way he slumped? He looked like a rag-doll, just out of it.And then some of yall act like it was a devastating KO or something. He got tired, got caught, and was hurt. It ain't like he was sleep and unconscious, if it was middle of the ring he prolly would have been able to cont. He did get put to sleep like Roy did, he wasn't kTFO!
I gained a huge amount of respect for Taylor in the fight though, so don't think I'm bashing him, just stating my thoughts on the ko.Comment

No he wasn't asleep, he was hurt but not sleep. The cameras was over there right after the fight was done, he was coherent and answering questions then. Was he hurt, absolutely, but it wasn't that devastating and yo must admit, if he wasn't against the ropes the fight would have cont. Taylor was no more hurt than Pavlik was in the 2nd.Comment

I have to disagree man. The only difference the ropes made was that Taylor would have been counted, and he would have been counted out. That shot shut him down. If he had somehow gotten up, he would have been stopped. It was a killer punch. No he wasn't asleep, he was hurt but not sleep. That's fine, But i disagree and there is nothing you can tell me opinion or fact that would suggest otherwise. It wasn't lights out like Roy Jones vs Tarver. That was a devastating KO, Taylor was just a regular one. And if you recall, the initial punch was a 1-2 punch that hurt him and pushed him into the ropes. Then I believe it was a hook that would have put him down if they were in the center of the ring. The uppercut is the punch that I believe you are referring to, but that only bad in slow motion. It wasn't a Tyson-esque KO man, sorry.Comment

I guess some of you guys that did not watch the fight forgot that Jermain was ahead on the cards when he lost. Close fight it was, could almost be scored for Pavlik, but in no way was it a blowout by Pavlik. And if you say Pavlik blew away JT in all rounds your an idiot and a disgrace to boxing.Comment

I think that all taylor needs to do is just give a little touch up to his skills and he can get his title back, if he wants it. I really think he did waste a lot of energy trying to trade so much with pavlik. If he would have just went to his knees when he was cornered, He would have gotten back up and won a decision or even a late tko.Comment
