anyway keep arguing ... but yes in 43 fights Ricky has had more wear and tear on his body than Floyd.

strictly talking from a fight to fight basis.
I understand an agree with your point.

But, stylistically, Hatton has a better chance to apply his style into his later years than Floyd. When PBF loses that footspeed and upper-body reaction, he will be standing in front of much bigger men without a big punch of his own to fend them off.

But, Mayweather is so well preserved because of the avoidance of punishment. He is not past his prime at all.

I think Floyd has already peaked. Its down hill from here. You can see him diminishing a little bit more every fight.

Hes really following the pattern of Pernell Whitaker in that sense. Even late in his career, he will still be a tough tough fighter to beat, but he wont be as mobile, he wont let his hands go as freely (watch his latest fights).

Pernell's last fight that I consider him prime was McGirt #2. He was about 30 in that fight.

Were going to see Mayweather start getting hit more and more, especially with the Jab.

Maybe Mayweather will start trading more if he realizes his skills are not as sharp as they use to be, but I think Mayweather will follow the path of Roy Jones. There will be a critical threshold where he starts to get dominated.

yeah true, durable brawlers can last a hell of a long time

and thats probably why Floyd is gonna retire in 2-3 fights anyway

From a physical development standpoint, it is safe to say that a 31 yr old SFW has his best days behind him.

Think about all of the guys over the past decade who fought most of their career at 130. How did those guys look at 31/32?

That is my concern with my man Guzman. His time is NOW.

Dios, I sort of agree but just like the previous poster said Guzman hasn't had as much wear and tear on his body as Soto. Besides, Guzman is trained by FMS and he isn't exactly a soft trainer. I still like Soto but I also like Guzman a lot. I can;t decide b/w the activity and pressure of Soto, and the stare and skill of Guzman.

I make my observation from what I see, not from an age stat. At some point age has to be a concern, but IMO Floyd is in his prime. How much longer will it last? I don't know. But, Floyd is well preserved, to his credit.

                      Good post. And good comparison.

But I don't know if PBF will want to "trade" with the full-sized welters. After this fight, he will have too many zeroes in his bank account for that ****.

If PBF can somehow squeak by Hatton, I'm not expecting much after that.
Shame & Cotto better PRAY that they do big numbers if they want to end up on Floyd's dance card. I know that isn't what the Floyd detractors want to hear, but that's the deal. PBF is all about the money-grab now.

Maybe the DLH rematch entitled "Unfinished Business" or some nonsense.
