It's just going to be tough to get those money body shots in for Hatton though... he will only be able to lean shoulder to shoulder with Floyd if Floyd allows him too, because sometimes Floyd fights like that. That is the only hope I can see for Hatton thumping Floyd's body. Otherwise, Mayweather will 1-2, slip away, hook, hook, straight right, hook, slip away. All night long.
Is Floyd Past His Prime?

Here's where we disagree and will just have to let the fight be our answer. Many people who haven't really followed Hatton aren't aware of how he really wins his fights. He has much better hand and foot speed than you might think. He is very skilled. But, the way he wins is by draining his opponents' strength with overall physical domination. Ie...the clinching, the holding, the grappling, the pushing, laying on them. This physicality is much more effective than you might at first appreciate. Hence: Tszyu.well, A lean, ripped Hatton is at 152-ish. A lean, ripped Floyd is at 148-ish.
Agreed?
Last week, during the pressers, Hatton said he was 166. And we all saw the pudginess and double chin.
Hatton couldn't really muscle around Collazo or Urango. Or even Castillo. I saw PARTS of the Maussa fight, but it seemed CM was as rough with Rick as vice versa. So, I do not think RH is freakishly strong. By contrast, while PBF CERTAINLY didn't muscle DLH or Baldo, nor was he pushed around by them either.
It is that observation that makes me inclined to say that Hatton isn't bringing in any significant strength advantage.Comment

I can't believe you admit this and still like him...Here's where we disagree and will just have to let the fight be our answer. Ricky puts dead weight on his opponents instead of punching them (that thing most boxers do to win their fights) to tire them out.
Not a criticism, just not my cup of tea to say that my favorite fighters lays on other dudes to make his money.Comment

I'm not going to overstate Floyd's power. But alot of guys SAY they will walk through him. And they never do. I do feel that he hits JUST hard enough to make you respect him and to prevent you from selling out.
Gatti stopped trying by round 2. Baldomir was bothered/bloodied by round 5. And Oscar got buckled in round 5.
Ricky should not be thinking Floyd is Malignaggi-esque.Comment

IMO (respectfully..because I'm taking the time to be serious tonight) saying "if Floyd allows him to..." is begging the question. This fight will be won or lost if Hatton is able to impose himself physically on Floyd, it doesn't matter what Floyd decides to do at all. The issue is: Can Floyd do anything about it?It's just going to be tough to get those money body shots in for Hatton though... he will only be able to lean shoulder to shoulder with Floyd if Floyd allows him too, because sometimes Floyd fights like that. I think he has good speed, and I include that as part of his physical package. There's NOTHING wrong with physicality. Hell, see Jermain Taylor's career. Here's where we disagree and will just have to let the fight be our answer. But I think it is worth noting that when RH fought FRESHER fighters, Ricky seemed to be the one fading late.
Do you agree that rounds 10-12 of both Collazo and Urango were not encouraging?Comment

It's hard to be physical against a dude who is boxing and moving... that's all I was saying.IMO (respectfully..because I'm taking the time to be serious tonight) saying "if Floyd allows him to..." is begging the question. I like the serious Wiley. I'd give y'ass karma if I hadn't done it so recently.Comment

Ok...we agree on something besides steroids, Dios. Cheers. You are right about that. It is respectable power, not awe inspiring or anything close to that. But, that's all he's needed thus far, right?I'm not going to overstate Floyd's power. But alot of guys SAY they will walk through him. And they never do.
