Gatti-Ward I - I've never seen someone get their ass beaten so thoroughly and not get knocked out. He got up from the Micky Ward liver shot for ****'s sake.
Gatti-Ruelas - He was being destroyed, and he knocked his ass out in the middle of being thoroughly beaten.
I don't know, I think Gatti is the toughest dude ever, because the punches hurt him, but he just keeps coming.Comment

One of my favorite quotes ever.
Buddy McGirt:
"I'm quite sure he (Gatti) would die in the ring.. The minks can't help ya..
The minks ain't gonna help ya.. Your friends can't help ya.."

Dios quote: "PBF was coming off stoppages of Sharmba at 147, Gatti @ 140, Bruseles @ 140, hurting Corley badly @ 140 and stopping NDou."
Actually, I always remember PBF being criticized for, 1. Avoiding the best competition available; and 2. being boring and running.
What I see is Mayweather always being in defensive mode. Being on defense does not mean not throwing punches. He sets off his counters, but they rarely translate into an offensive because of limited power. With weaker competition, such as listed by you above, eventually they tire, become discouraged, and lose on points. When a stoppage has occurred, more often than not, it was because of a bout's worth of accumulation. Oh, there are the occasional flurries when Floyd deems it safe, but that is a rare thing.
To me, offense consists of aggressively going after your opponent. It just so happens that for the most part, it is Floyd's opponents that are chasing Floyd around the ring. This is why he is criticized for the boring fight. I've said it before, it's like Rocky Balboa chasing that chicken until he gets all wore out. Floyd is the chicken, and everybody else is Rocky.
The difference here is that Ricky Hatton is no Arturo Gatti, Sharmba, Corley, or Judah. I simply do not hold these boxers in high esteem.Comment

Your memory is ****ed beyond belief than... because NO ONE would ever say the he ran in those fights.Dios quote: "PBF was coming off stoppages of Sharmba at 147, Gatti @ 140, Bruseles @ 140, hurting Corley badly @ 140 and stopping NDou."

the only times i actually jump in floyd's defense is when i hear ****** **** like this
between castillo and de la hoya tell me who pbf couldve fought
casa and freitas avoided floyd....tszyu was injured then lost to ricky, ricky nedeed 2 years worth of "tune ups" to be ready for floyd..... his only runner fights are baldomir and de la hoya, which i kind of hold against him, but they dont define him....Comment

Why would he "run" from Gatti, a human punching bag that could not pull the trigger? He stood up to Judah, and got rocked for it in the first few rounds, then got on his bike. What's so f---ed? I'm not the only one to make this observation.Comment
