I said it wasn't a knock on Hatton... I just think Gatti is tougher than anyone else in the sport, because he didn't have a good chin... but he just kept ****ing fighting. Maybe Holyfield can give him a run for his money... idk, Hatton kind of shut down against Collazo I hear... but I haven't seen it, so I don't know.

Actually, I always remember PBF being criticized for, 1. Avoiding the best competition available; and 2. being boring and running.

What I see is Mayweather always being in defensive mode. Being on defense does not mean not throwing punches. He sets off his counters, but they rarely translate into an offensive because of limited power. With weaker competition, such as listed by you above, eventually they tire, become discouraged, and lose on points. When a stoppage has occurred, more often than not, it was because of a bout's worth of accumulation. Oh, there are the occasional flurries when Floyd deems it safe, but that is a rare thing.

To me, offense consists of aggressively going after your opponent. It just so happens that for the most part, it is Floyd's opponents that are chasing Floyd around the ring. This is why he is criticized for the boring fight. I've said it before, it's like Rocky Balboa chasing that chicken until he gets all wore out. Floyd is the chicken, and everybody else is Rocky.

The difference here is that Ricky Hatton is no Arturo Gatti, Sharmba, Corley, or Judah. I simply do not hold these boxers in high esteem.
      Wiley,

When did you start to seriously watch boxing, and how many Mayweather fights have you seen??

Because you CAN NOT "remember" that. You might be looking back at that through the filter of septermber, 2007.... but you do not remember that.

Because PBF was a Boxing After dark fight. What kinds of fighters did they put on B.A.D.? and on KO Nation?

He was pretty much defined by the time he got to Oscar and Baldomir. Who else could he have fought? That is a revealing statement regarding the quality of his competition. But, hey I know I can't change your mind on this. I'm not trying to. Maybe, I should have just left it at that: "quality of competition."

          Wiley,

It is absolutely cool if you started watching boxing seriously early this year. We all have to start sometime. But just tell me, so I have some context.

I got a ****load of fight videos that I can email to you.

You said he ran against N'dou, Corley, Bruseles, Gatti, Mitchell and Judah. Absurdity, complete absurdity.

Oh my god, he ****ing stood and beat down every one of them, except for Judah... he stood with Judah, and lost the first few rounds, and then he had to start chasing Judah.

For ****'s sake, the end of Mayweather-Judah looked like Cotto-Judah in my opinion. Both had to chase Judah down, not the other way around.

in general, i mean he's good against lesser comp, but when hes stepped up in class, he's won more because of his uncomfortable style... and thata most of the fighters he fought needed to be failry close to him to do their work too, which made it easier for hatton to rough them up....he cant do that agaimst floyd unless he makes some drastic dirty **** like a headbutt that makes floyd lose his cool...

I've watched Mayweather for long time, and very rarely have I left one of his bouts satisfied. I'm satisfied with his boxing skills. Not his fights.
