I am extremely pissed when I think that in the 50s Hopkins-Jones-Toney would have fought each other THREE times each (3x3=9), in the 90s we got a grand total of TWO. I hate the 90s media+money game, not the players, because I know i would play it that way, and all these candid souls who talk about legacy, think about what millions are, before talking all that ****.

All of the people who keep on talking about SRR like he was god and how he fought everyone, ever heard of Charley Burley? Sure Robinson was great, most likely the greatest, but what's worse? Mayweather not fighting Margarito or Robinson not fighting Burley?
Charley is strong fast but his accuracy isn't all that good. Charley doesn't have great defense the guy keeps his arm to low even against fighters taller then him. Now why would SRR need to fight him?? Is it worth it?? Help me out here is there something I don't know becuase from what I've seen Charley isn't all that but hey where can I see more videos on him I've only seen 3

True nut hugger? I barely even like Floyd. My favourite fighters Mundine. Why would i post this about Floyd then? I went for De La Hoya vs Floyd.

With 4 more big names, hes right up there with Ali.

            But now no.

My whole argument has been, with four more big names, similar to De La Hoya and Hatton. Then he is really up there.

Because he fought at the welter and middle and he beat Archie Moore and Fritzie Zivic (to name the most important names)? This guy went the distance with future heavyweight champion Ezzard Charles (not bad for a welter, no?).

You are very lucky to have seen 3 videos of Burley, I have seen only one (Smith
II). You should share them, because they must be extremely rare, which fights were they?

From what I have seen his D is working pretty well for him, so I dont know why would you say that he doesnt have great defense, especially since Archie Moore said he was "as slick as lard".

In the video I saw he seems also pretty damn accurate with his jab and his counters.

(I mean people today complain about Mayweather ducking Margarito. What did Margarito ever do that was close to that? nothing)

                  Floyd is without question great.

But i do think Ali was a massive underdog against Liston, then much later in his career against Foreman. He was given no chance.

Lets see what Floyd does wen he is fighting well after his prime. He never will. He will retire, and I cant blame him.

                      Wylie' reply to Iceman's outburst

You are the one that needs to "come on." I have seen films of them. Maybe you should do just a little research on your own before you immediately dismiss anything that may challenge your own beliefs. People fought differently back then because the game was much more brutal and of almost unlimited duration. Therefore, methods were devised to cope successfully with that situation. The modern day style would not be successful in one of those fights.

You actually believe Ali could tangle with a prime Jeffries in a fight of Jeffries' era? No chance. 25-30 rounds is a long time to run and dance. Eventually, Ali would have to stop and throw down with the man. According to all historians, this was a most dangerous thing to do. 3 ounce gloves are nothing more than glorified leather straps. Ali could absorb alot of punishment, but nothing on the scale of what Jeffries did. He would continue stalking an opponent with broken cheek bones.

During Jeffries' era, there was another hall of famer who resembled Ali's style, speed, and toughness. His name was Sam Langford. Langford released a famous press release which said: "Sam Langford offers to fight any man in the world, except James J. Jeffries."

But, the real point of my posts here was to respond to all this Mayweather hysteria. Mayweather does not even belong in a discussion of the true greats. Certainly, at the very least, you can agree to that.
