  • we can't be 100% sure that pbf can make 140 easily, but that he comes in at 148 now indicates he probably could. it is hard to argue that floyd wouldn't be the same fighter 7 pounds south

I don't think the weight will have anything to do with this fight, it may as well be at 140 tbh.

    • well then why doesn't he just fight and beat Hatton at 140?

that would be more embarrassing to Ricky .. wouldn't you think?

not only is Floyd doing the Dancing with the stars ... so he isn't training full time.

but to come down to 140 .. an beat Ricky. Hatton would have no excuses.

I guruntee you this .. when Hatton loses, that'll be the first excuse he makes .. that he couldn't adjust to the weight. (I see Ricky tiring by the 9th round or so)

assuming Floyd can hit him and avoid the body shots on a consistant basis.

I think 147 isn't the optimal weight for either fighter. Floyd was so much better at 140 than he is at 147. My god, his three fights at 140 made him look like the GOAT.

Corley - He said **** strategy, and just brawled with Chop Chop, and still dominated the fight.

Bruseles - Wore him down and dropped his ass for the TKO victory.

Gatti - He looked pretty close to perfect here (although that might have something to do with the opponent).

        • perhaps - it won't be an excuse that I'll buy if it pans out that way. It is slightly strnage that the fight isn't at what is probably the best weight of both fighters, but Mayweather probably thinks there is a chance hatton will **** up again and come in at 155+. He won't I don't think.

          • 140 vs 147 ... what's the better names?

sure 147 isn't ideal for Hatton or mayweather. but it would have to favor Floyd.

Floyd had a pretty impressive 3 fight run at 140. but what he did at 147 was not to shabby. vs Mitchell, Judah and Baldomir he probably lost a combined 4 rounds. in those 3 fights at Welter.

Judah he trouble with in the first 4 rounds ... then shut him out. and Baldomir, ok he's not the most talented and the only think about him above average was his chin.

but Judah, Mitchell, Baldomir as far as names are better then Bruseles, Corley, and Gatti (considering head to head Judah has beaten Corley, and Baldy beat Gatti)

but head to head aside. Baldomir, Judah, and Mitchell in my opinion are more accomplished and better than the trio of Corley, Gatti and Bruseles

Lost 4 against Judah...2 against Baldomir. That's 6 chief. Not saying it matters...just saying.

              • uh that was one judge on one scorecard

the other 2 judges had a shutout. for the baldomir fight.

and it was probably out of pity anyway. (the judge who gave Baldy 2 rounds)

2 out of the 3 judges had it 120-108 for Mayweather. Paul Smith gave 2 rounds to Baldomir, and he always seems to be the guy who gives courtesy rounds in shutouts.

Anyways, I agree 147 is better for Mayweather than Hatton, obviously. I just think that Floyd was better at 140.

You are totally right about quality of opposition at the weights. Judah is better than all 3 fighters at 140.

                    • ok so he lost 6 rounds out of possible total of 36 ....

yeah the performances (vs Corley, Bruseles, and Gatti) were more impressive. how he dominated all 3.

but to step up to 147 .. yeah see above, he dominated those guys too.

I dunno if Floyd is an ATG (his career is still active).... but he'll definetly be remembered for dominating a majority of his opposition.

*Corley while obviously not elite, is still a pretty tough guy ... and with the exception of De La Hoya, nobody whooped on Arturo that badly.
