They can say it, but it wouldn't be true. PBF can easily be fighting at 140.

Name the JWW's that could have beaten ODLH on May 5th. If there are none, then PBF wasn't chasing weaker champions. In fact, even Baldomir would beat damn near every JWW. So would Judah.

    Nahmean?

how do you know Mayweather can "easily" make 140? just because he said he'd beat anyone from 140-154?

definetly agree with that. nobody at 140 could take DLH.

I think people need to look at the moving up in weight another regard. what if Floyd's body simply outgrew the divisions?

cuz look at the transition he made from fighting at 135 .. 2 years later he's at 140 (2004) .. and finally jumped to welter in late 2005

like you said .. even vs De La Hoya Floyd was at 148. and he doesn't have to pack on an obscene amount of muscle. he maybe at 5'8 a smaller Welter. but still at this point in time 147 is his division. and it doesn't affect him performance wise, obviously.

and at 30 years old .. who knows how cutting 7 pounds would effect Floyd.

and yes good point about Hatton .. vs Castillo his in ring weight was 150 .. but don't you think weighting 150 vs a junior welter would be more effective (having a size advantage) than it would with Ricky weighing 150 vs Floyd for example.

      • not trying to nit pick, but how can you say Floyd can easily make 140 .. when he hasn't fought at that weight in 3 years.

Miguel Cotto at 5'7 outgrew 140 ... is it possible that the same thing happened to Floyd?

          .
Because he has been coming into his fights at 146-148 without even drying out on fight week.

If you are 148 wet on fight night, you can easily make 140 if you wanted to.

Gatti and Cotto were 150s (high, sometimes) for their 140 fights.

          • still even if he is coming in at 145, thats not 140 .. he's still gotta cut 5 pounds.

its all moot, cuz Floyd ain't fighting at 140 anytime soon.

fighting Hatton at 147 is the smarter move. I believe Floyd's power might be able to give Hatton some trouble.

*Mayweather cut Baldy's nose, and bruised Judah's face, im pretty sure he can do similar to Ricky.

            • Mayweather has fought similar fighters to Hatton aka Chavez aka Castillo Hatton only fought one fast fighter in his whole career and was staggering and reeling like a drunk man in the 12th round Mayweather wins this no question.

Clearly Floyd Mayweather Jr has the better record here than Hatton, with a better list of standout names and solid fighters than Hatton's.
Hatton has the better record. 43-0 versus 38-0. Floyd has the better resume. Get it right.

                • Just because Hatton boils down to 139-140 to make weight and rehydrates to 150 doesn't mean Floyd can come down from 148 to 140

*they have completely different bodies. Hatton has walked around outside the ring at 180+

but it makes a case that 147 vs 140 doesn't matter really.

cuz yeah ricky may weight 140 pre fight, but he is coming into the ring at or around 150.

I think potentially going back down to 140 would be very hard, even for a workaholic like Floyd.

cuz the lowest he's recently been (2006-2007) was 145. and even 145 ... your still 5 pounds off 140.

                  • .but hatton is way overrated has always fought bums except for 2 fighters he beat the rest of his record is nothing
Name three fighters on Hatton's record before Kostya Tszyu without looking at Boxrec. Go on.

There is a difference between losing FAT and dehydrating. It's kinda frustrating trying to explain this to someone who doesn't understand.

An athlete can easily lose several pounds of sweat during a workout. Floyd has had the luxury of eating and drinking whatever he wants. Even on weigh-in day. But if he had to make 140, it would simply involve minor changes on fight week to weigh - in at 140. And then he would re-hydrate back to 146, or whatever.
