I don't see any of those names on the much better fighter Saccarin Shane Mosley.
I was speaking on talent, Oscar obviously has a better record with higher profile names on it. Shane beats Oscar in overall talent in mine and many others eyes.

Thank you to Sin City for pointing out that winning titles, while a great accomplishment doesn't mean much when you've taken them from the likes of Arturo Gatti. I had problems with Roy Jones winning the heavyweight title from Ruiz as well, so this is not a Mayweather issue for me, it's a competition issue.

I'm still searching on Google and Yahoo but can't seem to find any boxing site that has an archive that dates back past early 06'. I can't even find the articles where Mayweather called Mosley out a while back. Anybody know any other boxing sites with an extensive archive of interviews?

SSM moved up to 147 in preparation to a proposed mega fight with De la Hoya 8 months after Pretty Boy won his frirst world title and at a lower weight....was it worth it to risk a fight with ODLH to fight a guy with with 19 fights who just won a title??????only if he's gonna pay you more than DLH....

2.) Regardless of how long Shane was at the weight, he still was a 33 year old coming down 14lbs. Ask any 33 year old you know how hard it is to drop weight.
COMING DOWN 14 LBS?? FROM WHAT? Shane was at 147. Moved to 154 for vargas. Always planned on coming back to 147. Where are you getting 14 lbs from?? Shane has NEVER talked about 140. He skipped 140 on his way up, even.

            and....

No... Floyd did not "opt for Baldomir rather than mosley". Damn, dude. Do you own a calendar??

Floyd beat Zab in April of 2006. There was a Hopkins/Tarver fight in June of 2006. On the same night as Cotto-malignaggi. PBF was in discussions with OSCAR for a Sept 16th fight. Oscar was playing the Hamlet role and was saying that he would fight "one more fight against the best, or he would retire". Oscar called a press conference for that Hopkins fight weekend in AC.

Well, Oscar delayed the decision. He said that he had injuries and he would fight "next year". This was JUNE 2006, and PBF started to look for another fight. Haymon/Ellerbe thought that they were ****ed, because baldomir/Gatti were fighting for the WW belt. And everybody thought that Gatti was going to win. Clearly, Floyd wasn't going to fight Gatti again.

So, PBF had his eye on Shane. But Shane said that he had the tooth/vacation thing. He doesn't want the FMJ fight. PBF has few options.

But, BOOM. Baldomir destroys Gatti with a big left hook (Lampley's words) and validates himself as a WW champion. So, Team Mayweather negotiates with baldo for a November fight.

Later that fall, we hear that Shane has signed for a Cintron fight in the winter.

THAT IS THE WAY IT HAPPENED.

The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Seriously though Mayweather and Mosley both have a list of excuses as long as their arm why they won't fight each other, yet this seems to be the match boxing fans want most. Isn't it time to just settle it? Or will this be one of those fights that never happens and fans debate over for years to come?

No argument there. A Delahoya fight is the Holy Grail of boxing.

I would have turned down Floyd to go fight Oscar also. Unless Floyd was paying me what Oscar was paying. Which FMJ/ TR could not have.

But ALSO, please remember that Shane turned down $10 million for the third ODLH fight, and he instead took Winky for a fraction of that. This is the only flaw in your argument.

It's gonna happen in 2008 (if SSM beats Miguel). Shane will be going on 37.

Floyd will badly outbox a slowing and aged Shane (how many 37 yr old former lightweights still have it?).

We will all say how this fight should have happened much earlier, and it will add nothing to Floyd's legacy. Just like (in my mind) the Castillo fight does nothing for Hatton's resume.

He felt insulted that DLh didnt give him an equal split evn though Shane beat him twice...just like Marquez did vs Pacquiao...
