I can respect that, but the thing that kills me about Floyd is that he picks and chooses his competition at conveniant times while side stepping the toughest opponents. I know that Williams beat Marg, but you can't look at that fight and say what would have happened had he fought Floyd. Styles make fights, and I think that Floyd and his people new that Marg was a dangerous fight for him so he refused to acknowledge it and shunned that fight. He mentioned fighting Mosley if he beats Cotto, yet didn't comment on fighting Cotto if he wins. I don't think he wants to fight a prime Cotto. Once again I think Cotto's style could prevent problems for him. When a possible Williams fight was brought to him in the past, he made the comment that he didn't evn know who he was. Not that Williams deserves that fight yet,but eventually if he keeps winning, he'll have to acknowledge him. That is a real bad fight for Floyd. Williams size, height and arm length would pose a real problem for Floyd. He made Marg look small and Mag is a big welter. Once again I feel Floyd and his people know this. Yea he's fighting Hatton but, he knows that Hatton is really a jr.welter, but I still thin that if Hatton can crowd him, and constantly pressure him he could have a shot but that remains to be seen. I want to see if he and Cotto win will he be willing to face a young hugry fighter that is bigger and stronger. If he does that I will give him props.

      Very welcome.

      Two things are strange:

      1) seeing PBF out of shape. But I understand because his hand was broken

      2) Thinking back that PBF was taking SIX MONTHS between fights that early in his career.

Yeah. PBF trains ridiculously. The twelve and fifteen minute rounds nonstop, while he rotates sparring partners in and out. Ellerbe said that one time, Floyd went out for an eight mile training run. At the end, he was like 'I'm doing another five". That is a half-marathon... BEFORE SPARRING.

        Great point

I got to say that you made a great point about Mayweather. Not to take anything away from him but, yes, he still have opponents to beat b4 he can call himself or we can call him an all-time great.

That's the reason why you see guys like Mayweather and Hopkins reign for so long, I think if he wants to Mayweather could continue fighting into his 40's as easily as Hopkins has. Neither of them have taken a serious beating in their career that would prohibit them from being competitive at that age. I honestly can see Mayweather making the list one day, I'm just talking strictly in the here and now.

The truth is that Floyd didn't fight Marg for BUSINESS REASONS. FMJ (and previously GBP) did not want to do business with Top Rank. Please remember that Floyd bought out of his TR contract for $750K, and then got Goosen to promote the Baldomir fight.

Arum was "offering" Floyd $8 mil to fight margarito. Ellerbe/haymon knew what was going on. They were offering Floyd money from Floyd's own pockets. Margarito has no fanbase. He had just fought ******* Gomez in a half-sold room at the Aladdin. And that PPV did 30k (yeah) buys.

So PBF has taken a "**** arum" position. In fact, at the NABJ conference in Vegas a couple of weeks ago, King, Arum and mayweather were on a forum. FMJ was very openly critical of Arum. Saying "promoters are just middlemen who take fighter's money". King came to Arum's defense.

Team mayweather proved how bull**** the Arum "offer" was by making $10 million to fight baldomir.

Actually, in the B-talk live chat that I was on, PBF said "I will fight the biggest and the best fight that the fans want to see. Whoever that may be".

He just thinks (like many people) that Cotto will lose.

People say that Floyd will end up like Roy Jones. He won't because he doesn't rely purely on his athleticism like Roy did. Floyd has those old-school skills like Hopkins and Toney. Even though JT is never in shape.

btw, imagine if JT stayed serious and stayed at LHW/Cruiser.

So, PBF was working back from his hand injury and went six rounds in the gym with Spaddy.

I agree that the difference between Jones and Mayweather is their skills. People used to say that Jones did everything wrong, but his athleticism allowed him to continue to do that and win. People say Mayweather throws textbook punches (even though he doesn't use the jab), meaning that he can actually outbox someone if he wants to, instead of just using his speed to outperform his opponent.

I don't know about James Toney... I have a feeling the Jones loss took a lot out of him. He lost twice to Montell Griffin right after, and I don't know how good Montell Griffin was (but it could also be true that he was great before Roy Jones took his head off with that killer left hook).

Mayweather doesn't get caught flush enough to end up like Jones. Jones relied on his athletic ability entirely too much, and showed off in the ring all the time. It's no wonder he got caught, it was bound to happen. If Toney had stayed serious and in the lower divisions there's no doubt in my mind he would be able to continue fighting for years to come. This Heavyweight thing doesnt work well at all for him.

He should try to come down in weight.
