um i said specifically based on achievements. I don't think mayweather matched up at all well with SRR IMO, but then their peaks are at different weights. Based on skill in a p4p basis I can see arguments for putting mayweather a lot higher, sure.

But as far as raising the bar in the no. of top fighters he has faced, he can do more before he retires. I'm sure he will, and as I said then, should he do this, he will undoubtedly go higher on the p4p all time list.

He's ahead of all the other fighters of the past 15 years anyway, maybe not Holyfield actually, but he's around with Lewis and Jones in my eyes. I'm no boxing expert though, black or non-black.

Because...despite all of Hatton's class, his record, his achievements. Mayweather fans constantly try to discredit him and his legitimacy. What are you wanting exactly? To spend months saying that Hatton is ****, an easy win for PBF, not in his league and then when he beats him you want us all to say "That was a ****ing top notch victory for Mayweather against an exceptional opponent. He deserves mounds of credits for taking such a dangerous fight"? Wise up mate.
Forget about what I say, look at what all the writers are saying. They realize that Hatton is overrated and is probably going to get dominated. It's fairly obvious Mayweather won't get credit for this win from the general public, especially if it's a dominant win like most expect. Just check what Dan Rafael says about this fight in my sig...

In case you haven't noticed a lot of the writers are nuthuggers too. Of all sports journalists boxing writers have, in my experience, been far and away the most likely to let their biases show.

Showing class and passion in the ring by being aggressive?

So, Pernell Whitaker and Willie Pep didnt show class and passion in the ring because they were primarily skilled/defensive fighters?

What's classier than not responding to a nut punch (followed by a rabbit punch)?

What's classier and displays more passion for the sport than training 365 days a year and always being in super-peak condition?

With all due respect, you are mixing up apples and oranges and your criteria makes no sense as a result.

If you group all writers together, they're a general reflection of all boxing fans. Most people are picking Mayweather to dominate this fight, writers and fans alike. Does that mean most of the fans like Mayweather and dislike Hatton?

I expect boxing writers to act like objective journalists not fans. If I had my dithers fans would act more like rational human beings and less like fans.

Floyd has nothing to prove anymore. Hatton is not on his level. He already beat the best contender. You want to put Cotto up against Oscar? NO.

Mosley turned the fight down twice!!

I could give a flying **** if floyd is an *******....

This is the sort of post that makes me think the poster has no real love for sport, and doesn't understand the motivation of the best sportmen in history to constantly achieve the best.

Hey I'm not the one out there crying because every boxing match doesen't end with a knock out so don't make me out to be some fake boxing fan.

But the thread poster is correct. What does the guy have to do? Do you really Mosley and Cotto have a chance? I don't.
Hatton? well he is the weakest of the three.
I'm all for raising the bar but give the dude his props!
