    Napo,

and if he beats them in an 'un-convincing way', then who was the best of this generation?

Floyd is a great fighter but because of his personality, fighting style and wealth many dont associate him with being one of the best ever, maybe best as of now or flashiest, but the hate is that strong many wont even acknowledge the fact that his dismantled just about everyone of his opponents in a dominate fashion.... However he does still have alot to prove because his young, his talented and there are still guys out there who are questionably better then him in somes minds.... The fact is Floyd has to beat Hatton first the winner of Cotto/Mosely the loser as well, Cintron, Williams and well the whole damn division, Floyd will never get his due unless this is done and its to bad because skill wise his one of the best ever to lace um up and step foot in the squared circle!

hell. saw the way he twisted his face when that first score was announced?

I had it 8-4. A clear, but unspectacular, victory.

For atleast the next 2 or 3 years Floyd WILL beat everyone out under 147 lbs, if he keeps flirting with disaster and decides to go up to middle weight and fights one of them dudes he will end up getting laid out like Jones, but besides that you can dead the issue, regarding him losing to any of the aforementioned fighters...

My opinion is that if he unifies the WW division that will be great. I mean think about? Being a champion in 5 different divsions, being the undisputed champion in one of them, and undefeated will put him way up there. He has the skills to do it so he should say **** it and do it.

People respect action fights more than boring fights. You can be tactful and exciting at the same time. DLH did it, Mosley did. Floyd talks **** and doesn't back it up so that is why people won't hold him high.

I've always said boxing historians will ignore his fights in 20 years and look at Gatti, DLH, Mosley first.

At the time, the answer was:

Judah (he was undisputed WW champ at the time)
                    Margarito (to unify the title)
Delahoya/Winky/Shane (any one of these "veterans")
Hatton (he had just knocked off Tszyu)

So, PBF has beaten two of those, and is fighting a third in a few months. The fourth, Antonio Margarito, has lost and is off the radar.

Something tells me that even if PBF dominates Hatton, he won't be considered on the shortlist (5-10) of GOATs.

So, my question is this: WHAT DOES PBF NEED TO ACCOMPLISH WITHIN THE NEXT THREE FIGHTS TO BE CONSIDERED AN ALL-TIME GREAT IN YOUR EYES?

This is not a thread of who Mayweather CAN beat. Let's assume (just for argument's sake) that he DOES win.

If FMJ beats Hatton, then the winner of Mosley/Cotto, then one of the young lions (Williams/Cintron/Berto), is that enough for YOU to say "Yeah, I saw one of the very best". ... or will you need him to beat Taylor, then Pavlik, then Chad, then Wlad, then Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz?
because he lacks an exciting style, he will only be remembered as a great if he has a list of all the top names he defeated and an undefeated record.

If he gets beaten, he won't go down as a great.

i need mayweather to win this hatton fight, then beat mosley or cotto. if he wins these next 2 fights convincingly, then i'm done wondering. any 'young lion' types he beats after that is just going make me more of a fan of his ability.

everyone seems to hate floyd because of all kinds of reasons aside from boxing. i watch boxing cos i want to see good boxing- and mayweather does that everytime i've watched him. i wont hate on him because he has a douche bag personality. a ****load of boxers do. most successful athletes do in general.

bottom line is that floyd is taking the right fights now, and i couldn't be happier about it. i wanted mayweather/odlh, i want mayweather/hatton, and im going to want mayweather/mosley or cotto. the man is delivering.
