If Floyd beats a nearly 37 year old Shane, I do not think it will add to his legacy. Not in my eyes.

I'm an *******, but I'm no hypocrite. Since I discounted Hatton's win over an ancient Tszyu, I would also discount PBF's win over an ancient Shane.

Beating Cotto, a prime young gun - a killer - would be icing on the cake. A very nice win.
I disagree if shane beats cotto then any argument anyone has wbout floyd vs shane will be garbage. shane beats cotto, floyd beats hatton then it is on two of the best at the lower weights fighting, that would be huge for floyd's legacy especially if he is able to beat shane, hatton, and oscar before he retires.

This is the kind of thing that gets annoying.

        1. PBF raises his own bar, there's always going to be something else to accomplish

        2. There's never going to be a day when everyone says "he's done it all, might as well not even bother anymore, he's the g.o.a.t." That's a ridiculous thing to expect. No one denies he deserves the #1 p4p ranking. What more can you ask of us?

But as a man he's such a childish ****, and his few hardcore fans are so ignorant and lacking in class, that there's always going to be some bitterness about his dominance. You should never ask for anything different

Exactly! Plus, Floyd needs to stop setting his bar and then not delivering the goods. If you run your mouth about how you're going to go right at De La Hoya and beat him up then you damn well better do it instead of running like a thief. In other words, your mouth shouldn't be writing checks that your ass isn't prepared to cash. I have no problems with fighters talking a little smack but they need to back it up with action. Floyd fails that expectation miserably.

              kayjay,

I don't think that you are being broad-minded on this one, champ. Bill Parcells is a HUGE PBF fan. Mike Marley puts him in the same class as SRR. The Dominican God thinks he would compete with any lightweight EVER.

None of us are "childish ****s". And I hope not ignorant/lacking in class.

Somehow, you have been exposed to the worst element within the Mayweather contingent. Just like many Americans think that all soccer fans are racist, brawling houligans.

There IS a certain group who wishes that his ex-ring activity was on the same level as his in-ring brilliance. I'm among that group.

Fair enough Dios, I went a little too far in that post.

But the rest still stands, and there IS always going to be some bitterness about it. He feeds off that by holding all that money and disrespecting people.

Put your money in the ****ing bank and say nice things about people, even when they're not as good as you are. That's my advice to Floyd

I think I've answered this thread (one just like it) so many times that eventually I just start exaggerating

                    Oscar is blameless?

I'm struggling with how you blame the SMALLER MAN for not brawling. Wasn't it the job of the BIGGER MAN to make the little guy fight the "rough, tough, dirty fight"?

Also, there is a pretty long bus ride from "running like a thief" (ODLH vs Trinidad / Andre Dirrell in his last ********) and "boxing" (PBF vs ODLH).

You're grotesquely missing the point. It doesn't matter if it's the "job" of the bigger man: If the smaller man says he's going to do something he damn well better deliver or keep his fool mouth shut. The bigger man DID his so called job. De La Hoya pressed the action all night long but gutless Floyd wouldn't deliver on his braggadocio. And yes Floyd ran like a thief. You want to see boxing? Watch Larry Holmes fight Earnie Shavers. Holmes actually hit Shavers with something more than a pitty pat. Floyd was too busy keeping his track shoes going to do that to De La Hoya.

Bottom line: If you don't plan on backing up the crap coming out of your mouth then you need to keep your piehole shut in the first place.
