Prime Calzaghe KOs Benn 8/10 times.
Prime Eubank is hard for anyone to beat but Calzaghe probably just out-works him.
Watson would be the toughest fight to call.Comment

You wanna take care of Benn and Eubank both in their days?? We don't need Joe for that, just bring on Steve CollinsCalzaghe vs nigel benn is a fight id love to have seen, calzaghe wouldnt have stood a chance back then he's so overrated, just imagine him against the likes of Benn, Eubank (in his prime), Michael Watson, Gerald Mcclellan, Iran Barkley, Roy Jones Jnr and Bernard Hopkins, he'd get found out for the average boxer that he is, the fighters above have had some proper brawls and brutal fights (some of them). calzaghe's had an easy ride fighting bums and reality tv stars, i just hope he runs into someone decent someday soon!

Benns last 2 fights at the end of a brutal career were against collins, that says it all!

i agree. i am not saying he would beat benn or anything (its possible), but i dont agree that he was not in his league. i tihnk he is a good fighter and i dont see why he couldnt be a top fighter in any era...Comment

That was after Hopkins K'd him. I used to floow Echols and he was never the same after Bhop. Brewer was always spotty anyway.
Byron Mitchell dropped him like a sack of **** and Mitchell isnt a KO artist.A younger Calzaghe without the hand problems would KO Benn most likely, and he'd certainly outbox him. With Benn of course throwing all those bombs there is the chance joe would get tagged a few times and get stopped himself. Even though I've never seen him seriously hurt, he has never faced anything like Benn's punches.
But to suggest Calzaghe wouldn't be a competitor in the late 80s early 90s is silly - he'd compete with everyone except RJJ.
80-90's? Joe would be like 32-6-15 fighting on a side stage @ the dog track.Last edited by McNulty; 07-26-2007, 12:46 PM.Comment

Joe Calzaghe has been unlucky as he just missed out on the Eubank , Benn , Collins and Watson era ?
Steve Collins retired instead of fighting him so Calzaghe beat Eubank ( maybe not in his prime )
Jeff Lacy and Nigel Benn are very similar as in they are big hitters , If you look at what Calzaghe did to Lacy and what Watson did to Benn it pretty much answers the question ?
If Calzaghe beats Kessler then a big fight in the states looks likely hopefully against Ronald "Winky" Wright ?Comment
