And they were middleweights and Brewer got stopped in a slugfest , still has a lot of bearing on going up a weight into the bigger man , Brewer was a good fighter but hey he aint near Nigel Benn .

Echols did give Bhop a great fight because the styles suited , Bhop dont run from anyone and Echols gave a career best performance , again at middleweight , the timing off all these fights is crucial in relation to Joe , Joe fights them all at the right time thats why I say they a very selected on Joes resume .

no matter how sharp he is iv never seen him fight with the power and menace that Benn fought with or to his standard. Im not saying calzaghe's **** he can obviously box, but he's nowhere near as good as people make him out to be.

If the Calzaghe who fought Sheika, Brewer and Mitchell turned up, he'd get him
reid did beat calzaghe and got robbed by the judges

if prime calz and prime nigel benn fought, the dark destroyer would knock joe the **** out. benn was competitve with a prime eubank, not the washed up eubank that calslappy beat.

benn didn't have an era. he ducked all the good fighters of that era like roy jones, toney, mcallum, kalambay and nunn. he couldn't even beat the british circuit fighters like steve collins, eubank, or watson and they werent even that good. his best wins he had to cheat against barkley and mclellan wakka wakka wakka. another what if fighter like calzaghe.

A younger Calzaghe without the hand problems would KO Benn most likely, and he'd certainly outbox him. With Benn of course throwing all those bombs there is the chance joe would get tagged a few times and get stopped himself. Even though I've never seen him seriously hurt, he has never faced anything like Benn's punches.

But to suggest Calzaghe wouldn't be a competitor in the late 80s early 90s is silly - he'd compete with everyone except RJJ.
