amongst his trainees.... Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, Larry Holmes, Trevor Burbick, Bob Foster, Alexis Arguello, Michael Spinks, MArlon Starling, Montell Griffin, and Rid**** Bowe.

He has had 21 champs.

He also trained, and taught to be a trainer the great trainer Freddie Roach.

he also stayed with the game until he was almost 90 yrs old. He has received numerous awards from the Boxing Writers Association of America. Among them are: Manager of the Year (1975), Long and Meritorious Service (1982) and Trainer of the Year (1991, 1992).

I got the idea the poll meant living trainers. Cause if we're doing all time then this is a horrible list. But yea it seems Eddie Futch is considered the greatest trainer in boxing history. Off the top of my head i'd throw some other names for consideration: Ray Arcel and Jack Blackburn.

But then there are also the old time fighters who trained themselves and created the first molds of their type. Anyway, it's a pretty tough decision if you think about it.

I have to admit it is funny to me.... when Birmingham or Mayweather, etc come up with a very good performance people say they are the best trainer on earth and it snowballs.... yet Calzaghe had his Lacy performance etc...and I never even knew the name of his trainer until a few months ago. If he was over here the American press would elevate to KING status among trainers.

Eddie Futch is my all time favorite trainer. But I;'m guessing that the list is limited to today's best, and not all-time. With Eddie being kinda dead, he doesn't quite qualify.

Of the list, I say Nacho and by a considerable margin. The fighters that come out of his camp are among the most complete fighters today (Marquez Brothers) and in boxing history (Ricardo Lopez).

A notable ommision is Dan Birmingham.

All those trainers are overrated if you ask me. Majority of they're fighters lose they're biggest fights. Mannie Steward- Tommy Hearns lost his biggest fights to SSL and HAgler and Jermaine Taylor has gotten worse not better. Roach and McGirt fighters besides Pacquiao just lose period. PBF doesn't even need his uncle to be honest. His uncle only works him out and helps him come up with game plans. Proof of this is the fight PBF won without his uncle being in his corner. Freddie Roach right now isn't teaching BHOP anything new. I think Mayweather Sr. might be the best trainer because I actually saw improvement out of De la Hoya when he first got with him and that was the first time I actually liked how De la Hoya fought. By that I mean I felt he showed some skills instead just beating people on talent. Even though he boxed the **** out of Trinidad for most of that fight without Mayweather Sr.

What I meant was he looked better doing what he had been doing when he got with Mayweather Sr. It all seemed to come easier to him not like he was forcing something.
