Peole saying this one or that one is the best is really not realistic.... EVERY so called great trainer has guys that fight and lose or do not execute...many trainers make their name off of one really top guy they have and somehow people get the impression that all this trainer has to do is work with another fight for a time and that guy will be awesome, too, and it just doesnt work like that. There are very well known reputed trainers who could work with another fighter and get no results whatsoever. There has to be trust and communication and the ability to communicate with a particular guy, the ability to reach a particular guy. The best you can say and hope for is that a trainer is great...for a particular guy.

I agree with ICE. A trainer is only as good as his match to a fighter.

With that said, I think the best corner is boxing award would go to Goosen. The advice he gives between rounds is just incredible. He lays out a no bull**** gameplan for you to win.

There is also a difference between how good a trainer is at working a corner, and how good they are in the gym.

Emanuel Steward is good at one thing in my eyes. He is good at turning tall fighters into fighter that use their jab to setup that Hydrogen bomb of a Right hand he teaches them to throw.

Steward is basically an Tommy Hearns factory. He takes in guys built like Tommy Hearns, and he gets them in the ring fighting like Tommy Hearns.

This is the reason I would crap my pants if Emanuel got ahold of Paul Williams.

steward, nacho, mayweather sr, then roach, imo. Roach gives terrible corner advice..throw the jab, son. Almost as bad as papa trinidad.

....Why is McGirt on this list? lou duva is a better trainer than him.

There is DEFINITELY a difference between a good cornerman and a good trainer. Sometimes a guy is both...sometimes he is one or the other. Many people do not realize the difference
