Hatton is far more respectful than Floyd is, so that seems an odd thing to say.

And of course 5'6 180lbs isn't considered fit in the UK... a bit of a ridiculous statement when the US has the obesity rate of the world.

Please... talk SENSIBLY, or not at all.

You have not given the guy any credit for coming over to the States to do all his fights....
When was the last time you Yanks went abroad for a fight..
        ( Sorry, forgot..most Yanks don't have a passport)
But criticise fighters who don't travel to the States..
And when they do....you still give them no credit..
He's making the effort to go looking for fights..
Would Cotto fight Hatton in Manchester, {even with a US judges/ referee},
        Would he hell...

Why does't Hopkins or Taylor etc come over to the UK for a fight...
Nah..thinking about it..best not..Look what happened to Lacy...

He's got a great personality, is humurous, polite, and has great respect for other boxers and is a fan of the sport, having a very good knowledge of the history and fighters of yesteryear..

Thats why he is as popular as he is in Britain...he acts like one of your mates from the Pub, and shows respect..and gives 100% and never gives up...

        Compare that Mayweather...What a ****y twat...

I'd see if I could get some from around the net and put it in VIP, but I don't want ya accusing me of Limey propaganda again.

Besides, I don't really like him that much myself...

Mayweather does talk more ****, but he's accomplished more than enough to have that right and he's proven he can back it up...

At 5'6 180 he looks like a Greek God compared to most American people honestly. I doubt he looks all that bad honestly. He has huge legs and they carry most of the weight like myself I am betting.

I like Ricky alot, any man who is going to leave manchester to come over here and make his mark has got my repect. (the guy could have racked up 20 defenses against ****heads all the while selling out MEN making millions in the process but he didnt)

The only time I have ever rooted against Hatton was when he fought Zoo who I like alot as well.

I think his hugging has really shown itself lately because he has been fighting some younger, tougher fighters. Hatton isnt fighting a 40 year old Vince Phillips anymore ya know what I mean?

Unfortunately Ricky is facing my boy Castillo and I will be there in person to root my ass of for the underrated mexican warrior. So for just the second time I hope Ricky gets his head kicked in.

I dont get it either however, Hatton deserves a ton more respect then he is getting-if for anything at all repect him for doing what Roy and Joe and Bernard and Sven and countless other champions refuse to do...cross that ****ing pond!

Yeah, I can hear that. I just wonder why so much hate from some quarters. You know, it seems to go beyond "that was a **** fight" and into outright hate. Cotto had a couple of crappy fights before Judah but didn't get the abuse.
I think these are some of the reasons why he's not liked. I know I was interested in seeing him fight after hearing the hype & seeing some his early fights on Showtime. He just hasn't delivered since his arrival in the States & we're all still waiting another mega fight for him. And with the clinching in his later fights aren't helping his popularity at all.

I think the main reason for the dislike of Hatton by some Americans is simply jealousy. No current American boxer is 42-0 or better, and Hatton's only age 28. A few people see Hatton is a threat to their world - they prefer to have the top boxers being black and American. That's what they're used to, they like it being that way. So they attempt to discredit him.

Another reason is that a some people simply dislike English people - example, Mel Gibson has said publicly that he hates the English. Our Canadian "expert" on boxing, TSN's Russ Anber, feels the same way.

That being said, obviously the American sportswriters didn't hate him when they chose him Fighter of the Year for 2005. Most American boxing fans of all races respect Ricky Hatton, it is only a few haters that are so vocal they make it seem like all Americans hate him.
