de la hoya has been beaten so it wont be a surprise or a big deal to see mayweather winning...
and if mayweather wins, whats the point? oscar is 4-5 years past his prime and isnt this invincible unbeatable fighter as mayweather appears to be himself...so its a win situation for de la hoya
and a lose for mayweather no matter wut happens

exactly ... good to see someone has some sense...

this is a win/win situation for Delahoya ...thats it ... If delahoya wins, then he makes his legacy better... if mayweather beats him ... it does not really mean **** in my eyes ... and im saying this before he beats him so people wont say that i talked the fight up and all this bull****...

but honestly i would not be this upset if floyd mayweather was not going to retire after this fight ... what im so pissed about is ...mayweather thinks that this is the end of road... like he has accomplished the best thing in life by beating Delahoya... Delahoya has lost to fighters that would have been tougher opponents for floyd mayweather... Shane...! ! ! ... everyone knows that shane is a tougher fight for mayweather... less money but tougher fight... at the end of the day its about what you value the most ... a legacy or money ...

this fight does not mean a thing ... mayweather better not retire ...

everybody keeps brining up this title **** ... who gives a ****...???

mayweather was at 130 ... ok ... it took him how long to go to 147 ? and then how long to go to 154 ??? ... and he has a hand picked opponent for 154!!! ... why not fight winky at 154??? ... i mean damn...all im sayin is , this win does not mean a damn thing...

shane said **** 140 ... went to 147 ... and started out fighting the best fight from the top ... wilfredo rivera ... willy wise, and then Delahoya ... he ran into derailment after the forest fight ... but damn he moved up to 154 to fight a guy who in his heart probably knew he could not beat ... titles do not mean **** ... neither do "no losses on your record" ...

mayweather should be fighting someone who is on top right now or poses the hardest challenge because he is retiring ...

        if osca wins
he beat the curent p4p best
if floyd wins he beat an old DLH
so why is floyd taken the gamble???
cuz he aint gonna make 10 million fighten anyone else
id say that chunk of change is enough to risk it all

There are two great fighters in this fight. Both stars and both money makers. Both great at their game. I still dont think that Floyd has the exposure or charisma of De La Hoya and thats why he would want the fight so badly. In all honesty, Mayweather will go down in history behind De La Hoya. Unless he fights all the top guys too.

I dont think this fight is about the money for Floyd, he has enough money. I dont think its about fighting the best other wise Hatton wouldnt still be waiting. I think its because he knows that when he looks at the P4P greatest in history list he can say "but I beat Oscar".

Floyd has all the talent in the world and thats beautiful... but Oscar has the heart!

          Just my opinion guys.
I dont care who wins. I think its a great show but show is where it ends. would like to see Oscar take it. Nothing is better than a history maker!

          Have a great day.

Check it losers...... The fact is what PBF is doing while not extrodinary is not at all ordinary.. The way you make it sound is as if ODLH is just another fighter, haha his not.... His only the highest saleing non- HW in the last 20 years with a resume that speaks volumes... Yes! his lost 4 fights and even got some gift decsions but its boxing not ROCKET SCIENCE people theres room for error!! Look at all the other greats with 4 or more losses in boxing history/Ali, Frazier, Tyson, Holyfield, Dempsey, Liston, Jones Jr., B_hop and thats just a few......... ODLH is a class act in and out the ring the guy has been in there with some of the best and his 4 loses have all come by the hand of HOFers like himself!

The fact is PBF is not only adding on to his own legacy by taking this fight but the sport of boxing and its current state.... PBF is by all means the P4P king at this point in his career, what fighter out there can offer him not only the challenge ODLH is but the money.... Not Cotto, Not Tony, Not Hatton those fights would sale of course but not close to this 1.... On paper id Take ODLH in a fight against all 3 of those guys! Floyd is at a crossroads in his career and if this is indeed his last fight i wouldnt wont it to be against any1 else...... And for you who would like to mention Shane, Winky haha and JT are insane Shane said himself he'd need atleast 2 more fighst be4 he would be ready, Winky is about to get the beating of his life July 21st and JT thats not even possible at this point PBF is irrogant not dumb!

Oscar is not prime, but he's still quite a challenge for the smaller Mayweather. Mayweather started at 130, Oscar at 135 (though he fought 2x at 130 and won a WBO belt there), but Oscar definitely has the bigger frame to move up and is the larger man. It's why six years into his pro career he was weighing unofficially at 161-62 for a welterweight fight (Chavez II) and said he had problems making 147 for the Tito fight (he went totally naked to make weight).

While it may be more of an event and other matchups in itself are better, it's still a big win for Floyd should he win. And Oscar as well.

All will lose eventually if u stick around long enough. But PBF has to beat the best before retiring to be compared to the greats. If PBF retires after DLH yes he beat some very good opponents. But the fact is there are others out there he has to beat otherwise there will be question marks. PBF has to beat all there is to beat at his weight. Hatton for starters. ANd if he is going to beat DLH he might as well box Mosely as well. Because Mosely already beat DLH and PBF needs to beat the man who beat the man so to speak.
But DLH is the best opponent PBF ever fought and that is why he will get credit.

Do the people who pump money into the NFL- the sponsors from Pepsi, Toyota, and all the other companies really follow the sport? Maybe. Maybe not. How about the heads of TNT, FOX, NBC and CBS that play football games? Is every CEO a fan of football just because they put money into showing it? No.

So why does it matter if Oscar de la Hoya loses to Floyd Mayweather? Because the people who would put money into the sport- Fox, NBC, etc.- and all the sponsors- the only name they see as worth **** is Oscar's. Mayweather's victory may not mean **** to some boxing fans...but if the torch of popularity is passed from Oscar to Floyd after this fight...then it matters. Why?

Floyd will be the one with the recognition from the general public. Pepsi, Budweiser and all the other corporations will have a current fighter, rather than one about to retire (as Oscar will soon have to), to put money into. The sport in general will benefit from it.

Maybe then boxing will be back in the mainstream. That's why it matters.

Hatton isn't at 147 or 154. Floyd is a great fighter IMO. I think he could possibly be the most 'TALENTED" fighter of all time. As far as accomplishments he's high up there, level of competition he is not too high.

But he is the best in the sport today overall.

everyone started out at a lighter weight and then moved up... mayweather took the longest to move up... Delahoya has been beaten what 4 times already ??? more than that if you count the bull**** decisions he got ... no one seems to care though... shane mosley beat delahoya twice and he did not get the credit he deserved for raping Delahoya twice. BUT Mayweather is about to go down in history as one of the best EVER if he beats a guy who has already lost 4 + times ... why does this win count for so much ??? everybody has moved up and fought tougher opponents ...
and then how is he going to retire after this ??? what the hell does beating Delahoya prove ??? NOTHING ... we already know Delahoya can lose ... If mayweather retires without fighting Mosley or Winky or hell maybe even Taylor ...then he is nothing but a ***** who took the easy way out...

If mayweather fought jermain taylor and lost a close decision , he would get more respect than he would winning against Delahoya.,.. I garuntee you ... It pisses me off that Mayweather will go down in history because he beat Delahoya... the guy who lost a **** load of times ...
                      Great Arguement,

                      Spot on,

Beating a 6 weight world champ in your first fight at 154 and considering you started at 130 pounds doesnt make you a legend.

He has to fight guys like Jermain Taylor, at 160 pounds, they are real legends, actually, forget that,

I wanna see Mayweather V Mormeck at Crusierweight, then perhaps he's a decent fighter. Even if he wins, he isnt really that good, he has to fight Bell, Bell beat Mormeck,

If he retires without fighting bell, he's a *****.

                      Yawn.
