Why does it matter so much if Mayweather beats Delahoya?

    listen to my argument....

everyone started out at a lighter weight and then moved up... mayweather took the longest to move up... Delahoya has been beaten what 4 times already ??? more than that if you count the bull**** decisions he got ... no one seems to care though... shane mosley beat delahoya twice and he did not get the credit he deserved for raping Delahoya twice. BUT Mayweather is about to go down in history as one of the best EVER if he beats a guy who has already lost 4 + times ... why does this win count for so much ??? everybody has moved up and fought tougher opponents ...
and then how is he going to retire after this ??? what the hell does beating Delahoya prove ??? NOTHING ... we already know Delahoya can lose ... If mayweather retires without fighting Mosley or Winky or hell maybe even Taylor ...then he is nothing but a ***** who took the easy way out...

If mayweather fought jermain taylor and lost a close decision , he would get more respect than he would winning against Delahoya.,.. I garuntee you ... It pisses me off that Mayweather will go down in history because he beat Delahoya... the guy who lost a **** load of times ...

I dont think he will win anyway
Oscar is underated and Floyd is overated imo (both slightly but enough)

Mayweather is already going down in history with or without De La Hoya. Not every fighter will have 5 titles in 5 different weightclasses.

        haha

If a man who walks in the ring 37 times and wins and then beats a legendary fighter who's only losses were very close and then retires is a ***** then what are you? Because that ***** would walk all over you in the ring. Because i dont care how big you are, this guy is world class, i bet he hits harder, he's faster, hes in better shape and would kill anyone that you have beat if you are a fighter, so stop talking **** on fighters. They're the one with guys and even if they dont put on a good performance one night, they usually come through on others. So get a life or stop watching boxing. Your not the one making 20 plus million in 1 night.

If De La Hoya is on top of his game he's an extrodinary fighter but nobody has seen that version of De La Hoya since he fought Fernando Vargas in 2002 so it's a fair point. I think De La Hoya will be prepared and formidable in this fight though.

i agree...as ive stated before in previous posts....de la hoya is the only one in a win situation...if he wins, he beat the current p4p best in 2007....
de la hoya has been beaten so it wont be a surprise or a big deal to see mayweather winning...
and if mayweather wins, whats the point? oscar is 4-5 years past his prime and isnt this invincible unbeatable fighter as mayweather appears to be himself...so its a win situation for de la hoya
and a lose for mayweather no matter wut happens

and name me a legendary fighter who hasnt lost, besides marciano, and if he stuck around longer he would of lost. Thats why he retired. TO many guys stay in too long, Roy jones couldnt of been the next to be 50 and 0 but he took a chance to go up to heavyweight and go back down, yet he is a legend. Just like the saying, all champions can be beat, but there are few that beat a legend, 4 losses isnt much, especially the opposition that beat him were other living legends.

Oscar is one of the best fighters in the world and would easily beat anyone at supermiddle imo. Floyd is fighting at a weight class 24 pounds above his original.
                    Its that simple.
