Maybe I'm confusing him with Dimitrenko?

**** this is what I'm talking about, the ignorant Yank mind can only recall so many Russian heavyweights.

He just fought mainly blown up cruisers and light heavies.
But still, he has very good resume for his first 10 fights(yes he only got 10 fights and a talk about any title shot is way too early)

Dimitrenko is poor man's vitaly with not as much power and killer instinct. I would say that Peter can take him.

I will bet my whole reputation that Guy who is taken the distance by Robert Hawkins and who's best win is against a FAT OLD 5'9'' 37 year old middleweight who is 3-4 years past his sell by date.. Is not going to do ****ing jack squat except KO punks.. and be a stepping stone for the ELITE..

**** I cant believe your normal eye for talent could be so distorted by this GUY... he is a totmato can with power ..Boo Hoo

Alexander Povetkin had a long career as an amateur, against top level competition, so he doesn't need as many professional fights before challenging for a title. He has arguably the best amateur record of all time at Super Heavyweight, with 11 gold medals in 12 international tournaments, including gold in the 2004 Olympics.

He's had 11 fights as a pro, recently an impressive 2nd round TKO of David Bostice, and he fights again on May 26. He's fought mostly bigger men, not blown up cruiserweights and light heavyweights. Now age 27, I think he's only about three or four fights away from a title shot, if he fights contenders. But I've read that boxers are avoiding him (Danny Williams and others have turned him down).

Welter I hate sluggers, I can sympathize with your feeling on this. Miranda for instance is a bit of nonsense and I can't wait to see him given a few clear boxing lessons so he can disappear.

But something makes me like Sam Peter; maybe it's just that I like anyone who beats up JT? But really in the second fight I like how he came how strong and with shorter punches.

He has improved a lot and in his last fight showed very good handspeed and was actually up on his toes a bit. It would be one thing if he just smacked Toney in the back of the head and got a knockout. He OUTBOXED James Toney.

There are some good heavyweights. These guys just need to fight eachother. I think the last time there has been a fight with multiple belts on the line was Lewis - Holyfield.
those kd's against wlad were bull****. the 10th may have been legit but even that was more of wlad flailing in panic and falling against the ropes. peter's power is overrated hugely. he has heavy hands but lacks the snap to put the lights out on quality or even semi quality opponents. he is as strong as an ox and has a granite chin,,,thats his best quality. as far as the toney fight,,,,,,a handful of heavyweights could have done the same to toney that night. he finally showed his age. Im still not sold on peter being anything more than a strong clubber. put him in with a quality boxer with some movement and we'll see the same raw peter

looks like were on the same page with peter. there's going to be some disappointed people who expect big things from him. you know I think even rahman would have a good chance with peter although his bad stamina will probably lead to peter stopping him later in the fight. does anyone even wonder why peter hasnt been calling out wlad for a rematch? he cant beat a good boxer with speed and movement. dont forget this post. you'll see what happens if they decide to match peter with another boxer/puncher again

                    Samuel Peter

Samuel Peter has a great chin, decent stamina, and powerful punches. He unfortunately resorts to rabbit punches when he's in trouble in the ring. He is rather slow even for a heavyweight, but he was overweight in both Toney fights. I think Peter would be better (faster) at about 215 to 225 lb. His technique seems okay but not great, but I saw improvement from the first to the second Toney fight.
