i think most people are under valueing the superior footwork and movement of top tier boxers and how much quicker and harder their punches would be with the smaller gloves on. Also, at the heavier weights the top boxing guys would hit way too hard for mma guys to compete. Look at Sam Peter or Wlads jab and think what that feel like when he put on the mma gloves, i think they are like 4 ounces. I mean if you ever been hit hard with even an 8 ounce glove holy **** I cant imagine one of those dudes landin shots with anything less.Comment

I am not saying Mayweather would win against your boy in MMA but I'll say this, Mayweather has best mind in boxing as well as the best foot work in boxing. Mayweather does not need to learn take down defense by standing his ground, he can use his foot work. How the hell would Mayweather stop this from happening to him?

Florian actually knows what take down defense is and he still got thrown around like a rag doll. You think that because Mayweather is a great boxer, he'll KO Sherk with a knee-high uppercut or something? Please.Comment

Boxing footwork is customized and refined for boxing. Boxing's footwork only takes into account the factors present in boxing. Boxing footwork is NOT universally acceptable in all fighting situations. It must change and adapt to the new factors in play. This is the basic principle of footwork. Boxing footwork DOES NOT factor in a takedown in a boxing match. And according to boxing rules, why should it? By Mayweather standing his ground, that's probably the worst takedown defense he can do.Comment

I think it is obvious that Sherk wins every time in MMA and Mayweather wins every time in boxing. Sherk WOULD take your boy down no matter how good you think his footwork is. I've seen many Sherk fights and he constantly takes down guys who train wrestling. My problem is Mayweather (and even a lot of yall) thinking that he can just learn some TD defense and beat a top 10 MMA fighter. It is just as ****** as me claiming that Sokoudjou could take some boxing classes and compete with a top 10 boxer.I am not saying Mayweather would win against your boy in MMA but I'll say this, Mayweather has best mind in boxing as well as the best foot work in boxing. edit: ^ While yall are checking out those topics that that dude above me posted, go to the sherdog store and buy Pride High Octane on DVD. That will learn ya.Last edited by EolGul; 04-19-2007, 09:50 PM.Comment

No one is undervaluing a boxer's quickness with his HANDS or his punching strength. The problem comes when a person shoots on a boxer. There's not much a boxer can do to that person, besides hoping that the person who is shooting at him sucks at shooting and likes to give major hints when he's shooting. Only then can he line a solid punch hard enough on the guy to stop his shoot. When a person generally shoots in on another, the level of the fight changes. It switches from a shoulder height, to a foot and knee level. Thus when it switches levels, it takes the typical boxer out of his element and thus negates a vast amount of potential damage from punches.i think most people are under valueing the superior footwork and movement of top tier boxers and how much quicker and harder their punches would be with the smaller gloves on. @ the general ignorant public. I don't mind educating people, but ****in come on. You can use some common sense here. The factors I'm talking about are not that hard to visualize. This is really feeling like I'm talking to a bunch of mentally challenged kids.Last edited by Naiujiro; 04-19-2007, 10:14 PM.Comment
