You have to remember when RJJ fought B-Hop he was still a work in progress and James Toney had to lose 40IBS in like 3weeks. Not one of these guys recieved a rematch in their prime; even after lobbing for some time might I add. Joe Calzaghe destorys RJJ at this stage of the game 8 out of 10 times. Plus the fights in London! RJJ had not a great fight against Woods there remember...........

If you fought me or calzaghe, you'd be in a comma if not dead by just getting hit by one punch.
.. And I bet it'd only be a jab

What you talking about? the Toney that fought Jones was Undefeated, had held the number one p4p in the world and was ring magazine fighter of the year in 1991
How is Calzaghe now, better than toney was then?
i dont ever remember JC looking like the p4p number one in the world (im not saying JC aint world class).
Better yet how can you say that when the Super-middleweight division is the second worst in boxing right now to the heavys.
In toney's day there were some proper fighters, people like Roy Jones and Michael Nunn, fighter like Beyer ottke and kessler would have got murdered by these guys
(no Jeff lacy is not better than Michael Nunn or Roy Jones lmao)
You think Evans Ashira would have got a world title shot in those days?
lol.
Please.
Joe Calzaghe is the best SM right now no question
No he wasnt ever better than James Toney was then.
On the day of the fight against RJJ, THAT James Toney was virtually dead. He had to lose too much weight, had been ill, had been hospitalized the evening before the fight. The Joe Calzaghe that Roy Jones Junior were to fight would be a more credible opponent than THAT James Toney.
The fact that Reid actually got the hometown decision in that fight is what made it controversial. The other two judges gave much MUCH more credible scores. And that was where Calzaghe broke his hand early into the match. If you dont see the fight, why comment?Yep, apparently Calzaghe was another Robbery (i didnt see the fight), why did Joe refuse Robin Reid a rematch?
Take one look at those scorecards and it becomes obivous something might not have been right, how can a judge give it 116-111 to Reid and the other two 116-111 to Calzaghe?
What fight were they watching, that dont seem right.
lol.
Those are your opinions. I didnt say that Prime Joe defeated Prime RJJ did I? I said that he'd be in with a chance. I also didnt say that Prime Joe defeated Hopkins OR Toney either. What I did say is that a victory over a fully fit Joe Calzaghe even at this stage in his career would possibly be a more credible victory than those over a nowhere-near-peak Bernard Hopkins and a weight-drained and in poor health James Toney.
For the record, I would actually bet on Calzaghe in all those 3 fights if I was forced to, but thats not the point I'm making.Comment

This may be a fight that Roy could win. He still has enough in the tank to beat him. Joe isnt really a hard puncher. Look at his last bout with Manfredo Jr. He hit about 20 times flush for the stoppage and at no time was Manfredo dazed or hurt.Comment
