I agree. but does great marketing and promotions make u a great fighter? Hell no! and i see all these thread talking about how DLH would fair against some of the all time greats. Hell he didnt even fair well against his own era's greats. you look at his career and see that he won against sweet pea(and i say won and not "beat" on purpose). Beat an old JCC and...im hard pressed to gind another win thats worth putting him up there as a "Great". good guy for the sport of boxing or the exact thing that boxing needs to get rid of? A prima dona who asks for all kinds of stipulations in his matches to weigh it in his favor and he still gets beat

i dont care if it was Gabe or Babe or who ever his brother was. all i know is that he couldnt have been that good if i dont even know his name! since when is all u have to do is be competitive in fights to be considered good? show me some wins!

As far as the mayweather fight is concerned. DLH has always has problems with speed and good defense(slicksters). his so called big wins come against fighters that stand right in from of him and has no movement! Mayweather wont be there for him to hit

I question how long you've been watching boxing for if you don't know his name or how much of a real boxing follower you are.

i said b4 that i never claimed to be a boxing historian. but he couldnt have been a "great"! i dont see any Rafael Ruelas vs anyone threads on here. and u still havent named anyone DLH has actually beaten that impressed anyone. Make it easier for you...whats DLH's record this millenium?

Well if the Mexicans conxider him a Mexican...he would probably be the greatest Mexican fighter ever together with JCC. But he's American.

                So he's not really overrated.

He has disappionted in some fights, but never looked bad. No 'elite' competition has been over his head. None ever could be.

His skills and natural abilities rival anyone's. His pre-Trinidad career was terrific, with an undefeated record and high KO % against the best available competition. Against Trinidad he proved to be both the best of his era in his weight range, but also to lkack something. That something was not boxing ability. Can you picture Trinidad ever really beating him? I can't.

After that his fights are less frequent, but when you add up the whole you can't say he did not fight all the best fighters of nearly two decades from 130-160. Not all performances were spectacular, but some were. And too many are controversial. Someone mentioned his close and questionable victories. Well his defeates (minus only Hopkins) were that way too.

He could be from Budapest and still be overrated
