he stops edwin rosario when el chapo was on top of the pound for pound ratings, Chavez fought the who's who at 140, and was undefeated for 14 years, those non title bouts he was taking in between title fights are unnecessary, Chavez was truly an all time great, it was sad that he has to fight even in his 40s, his last loss in 04' was embarassing.Comment

I hope that gay boy Marquez whips Barerras ass.
I just hope Barerra doesn't bend over in front of Marquez otherwise Marquez might get a bit too turned on and will probably get D/Q for trying to bum Barerra or something similar.
Never thought i'd cheer for a gay boy but come March 17th I will be waving my little pink flag for Marquez.Comment

Yea the fact that he beat Morales twice also has nothing to do with it. Morales beat Junior Jones, big deal. So did Kennedy Mckinney. Barrera beat McKinney and Morales. Barrera also very easily could have gotten the decision in the second Jones fight, I thought he won it. It was a close fight and it didnt swing his way. Morales beat Pacquiao, and then got his ass ***ed up real bad twice after that, this before he got schooled by Zahir Raheem whom lost to Juarez and was behind Juarez in world rankings. Barrera beat Juarez twice.Morales knocked out Junior Jones who Barerra who lost to twice and he also fought and beat the hardest hitting most dangerous fighter in boxing today, Pacman. He didn't just fight him once, he did that three times.
Barerra and Marquez have been ducking him for years! That's what really pissed me off about Barerra, the fact that he pussied about with this rematch with Pacquiao and called him out at every possible opportuinity when he knew Pacman had something already lined up, made him look like a real coward. Atleast Morales had the balls to rematch him every time and keep to his word instead of ***** footing around it like that chief Barerra.
The reason why some Mexicans in this thread rate Barerra above Morales is because he beat Naz.
FACT.
but at the end of the day it comes down to this, Barrera beat Morales twice.Comment

Erik Morales is the only man here who can claim to be the best ever in a particular weight class (122). Even though Bazooka Gomez holds that title, Morales has a case.Barrera's career > Morales'
Started earlier, been around longer. Was at the top first, stayed at the top longer, is still at the top actually. Has more wins with less amount of losses. Barrera is 63-4 and Morales is 48-5. Barrera went 43-0 before his first loss, Morales went 41-0. Has about the same amount of big wins as Morales. The Hamed win was probably a bigger win than any of Morales though. Maybe Morales beating Pac competes with it but the 2 KO losses to Pac following it really overshadows the win. Then to top it off, Barrera won the trilogy against Morales.
Barrera is just a step ahead of Morales in my opinion.
Morales is a warrior and has had a great career but I really dont think his career is better than Barrera's. Morales fans will never admit it though because the feud between the two.
-36-0(28) at 122
-Wins over Barrera, Jones, Zaragoza, McCullough, Acero-Sanchez
-Unified the titles after beating Barrera
The rest of his career was almost icing on the cake. Morales pushed his career harder and did everything faster than Barrera...which is probably why he has little left to give. Both guys were warriors, but Morales CONSISTENTLY took on harder fighters. Morales jumps up to 126 before Barrera and he takes on a better version of Kelley and Ayala and largely dominates them. He beats Chi and Espadas there as well. He has the controversial fight with Barrera and is on the losing end of that one. Still, the recurring theme is Morales' ambition.
Then Morales goes up to 130 after already having a decorated hall of fame career. He blasts out Espadas, takes on a tough hombre in Jesus Chavez (who I believe would beat Barrera at 130) and wins the title, unifies by beating Famoso and beats Manny Pacquiao...who previously dominated Barrera. That win was certainly as good or better than the Hamed win, as Pacquiao will be remembered as a better fighter than Hamed when all if said and done.
Morales was never vulnerable until the end of a long boxing career. He was never dominated and stopped in the middle of his career like Barrera. He beat Barrera's conqueror's and always went to war when he could have coasted...letting his great boxing skills win him the fight. Morales taking on Pacquiao three times at the end of his career was just classic commentary on his whole career. He could have skated and rode off into the sunset but he gave the fans what they wanted and he went out on his shield.Comment
