His record is overrated, but his skills in the ring isn't. In his first title fight he fought Mario "Azabache" Martinez, a very capable boxer to say the least and fan favorite at that time. Martinez was no bum. If you look down the line of the boxers he has faced and beaten, IMO, he's not overrated.
BTW, I read somewhere that he did have a blemish in his record. He was DQed in his 12th fight, I think for hitting his opponent after the bell? or something similar. His record was hyped by his handlers and promoters for ticket and ppv sales. That's how he was promoted...and yes, that Taylor fight shouldn't have been stopped IMO, but DK wasn't about to let the Chavez gravy train get derailed, not just yet anyway. Also the instructions that Taylor got for that last round was IMO bs...Comment

He was overrated imo, and to concerning that little arguement between Barerra and Morales, my opinion is Morales > Barerra.
Barerra's win against Naz was against a Naz that wasn't all there. Naz would of beaten him on a different night.
Morales each and every time if I had to choose between the two.Comment

Barrera's career > Morales'
Started earlier, been around longer. Was at the top first, stayed at the top longer, is still at the top actually. Has more wins with less amount of losses. Barrera is 63-4 and Morales is 48-5. Barrera went 43-0 before his first loss, Morales went 41-0. Has about the same amount of big wins as Morales. The Hamed win was probably a bigger win than any of Morales though. Maybe Morales beating Pac competes with it but the 2 KO losses to Pac following it really overshadows the win. Then to top it off, Barrera won the trilogy against Morales.
Barrera is just a step ahead of Morales in my opinion.
Morales is a warrior and has had a great career but I really dont think his career is better than Barrera's. Morales fans will never admit it though because the feud between the two.Comment

But if it was Moralesthat beat your beloved Brit fighter, than youd say Barrera was better. This **** is getting real old. Hamed WOULD HAVE NEVER BEATEN A GUY THE CALIBER OF BARRERA.Comment

Morales knocked out Junior Jones who Barerra who lost to twice and he also fought and beat the hardest hitting most dangerous fighter in boxing today, Pacman. He didn't just fight him once, he did that three times.
Barerra and Marquez have been ducking him for years! That's what really pissed me off about Barerra, the fact that he pussied about with this rematch with Pacquiao and called him out at every possible opportuinity when he knew Pacman had something already lined up, made him look like a real coward. Atleast Morales had the balls to rematch him every time and keep to his word instead of ***** footing around it like that chief Barerra.
The reason why some Mexicans in this thread rate Barerra above Morales is because he beat Naz.
