I can think of a number of reasons.

It may be that he tired out because Urango was an incredibly strong JWW (I'd wager stronger and harder to take the fight to/push around than anyone Hatton has faced).

It may be that he was stung by a few of Urango's body punches and that gassed him a bit.

I'd say the most likely reason was because he knew he'd outclassed Urango but could tell that there was no way of knocking him out. He knew that Urango was a stepping-stone fight and that he had the big step lined up with Castillo and didnt want to put that fight in jeopardy by leaving himself open. Maybe not even leaving himself open to defeat, but just injury that could push the Castillo fight back. So he decided to adopt a low-risk tactic so as to coast through the rest of the fight taking no damage and getting the kind of mutual decision he was only likely to get if he boxed Urango's ears off for the rest of the fight anyway.

As boxing fans it not exactly what we want to see. But it was effective and it was safe.

The real reason is that Hatton is not that good. Honestly, you think Hatton would go into cruise control mode against Urango because he's dominating the fight? Being that he just put on a terrible performance against Collazo, he should have been trying his hardest to put on an impressive, dominating performance even if he couldn't KO Urango. The constant hugging has completely shriveled up his American fanbase...

I think all the weight draining has screwed up his stamina. He is clearly not a P4P fighter anymore. I don't think he ever was...

Do you think that's any different to going on the run for the last few rounds to see out a fight that you've already won comfortably?

No difference. But isn't Hatton supposed to be an all-action fighter trying to build a fanbase in the US?

Didnt Mayweather claim he was going to go toe-to-toe against DLH?

Glad you agree. Now I want to see endless pages of your groovy threads after the next Nard/Judah/PBF fight, laying into these guys when they do it again, OK?

There's no "supposed" about it. That's what he served up for the first 8 rounds or so, and in 40 other fights. He was following corner instructions anyway so you should vent your spleen at Billy Graham instead.

Yeah, and no one believed him. So when Hatton says his fights are going to be wars, like he's been saying for the Castillo fight, we should expect another episode of ***** as Folk from him?

Surely you should go by what you see most of and most of Hatton's fights have indeed been wars. Collazo was a war, it was a good fight. Urango wasnt, it was a good 6 rounds and then a fairly dull 6 rounds. 1 or 2 fights does not a pattern make.

So why dont you go and hassle the guys who HAVE made a career out of contributing to boring fights?

See, its this kind of talk i dont understand, no one hates hatton, but come on guys, its foolish to suggest no one can beat hatton at 140, when both Mayweather, Witter and even Harris would have good chances of beating him at 140, hatton would be the favorite against Witter and Harris, Mayweather would be the fav against hatton.
