Any P4P level fighter should be able to handle moving up one division without a problem. Mayweather has done it many times. Pacquiao has done it many times. Winky had no problem moving up to middleweight and arguably beating Jermain Taylor. Barrera has moved up three divisions. Hopkins even skipped a division at 41 and dominated Tarver. Just over the weekend, Marquez moved up to 122 and beat the RING champion there. The list goes on and on.

If Hatton is a world class, P4P level figher, why did he struggle mightily with a fringe contender like Collazo? Why did he decide not to stick around welterweight and prepare his body properly for the division? Why did Hatton run back to 140 when there are absolutely zero meaningful fights to be made there?
This may have already been asked on this thread but i can't be bothered reading through it all...
Is it not concievable that Hatton is only made for the light-welterweight division? However, Ricky Hatton is talking about fighting Mayweather... Can this be made at 140 if Mayweather comes out of retirement? Or does this show that Hatton has plans to move up in weight again?
His career isn't over yet, and i think that he may move up again if he can't get any meaningful fights at 140, but the Castillo fight is certainly meaningful IMO.
Hatton hasn't taken great strides forward since the Kostya Tszyu fight, but it would have taken a world class fighter to do a number on Tszyu back when Hatton fought him IMO.

It's obvious that Hatton doesn't jump through the weight divisions like other fighters! That doesn't necessarily mean he isn't world class though and that's the point i'm trying to make. Also, he is still yet to finish his career, and if he ever gets to face Mayweather i doubt that it would be at 140.

Hatton is world class. He could fight at 135 but he prefers 140. It seems like more of a man weight and he dont want to be no girly lightweight. He likes to get his weight to 140.
If he could manage his weight between fights and not eat fish and chips and fry ups and beer, he could be a 3 weight champ now. The 5 pounds difference from lightweight to lightwelter is like 1 visit to the toilet for Hatton.

is someone a Hatton 'nut hugger' because they respond to BS posted about him?

Thats not nut hugging. If people are sick of others defending Hatton, why do the people who hate him make posts every 5 seconds about him...

I haven`t ever seen a 'Hatton is the best boxer in the world' thread from a Hatton fan...

people seriously need to grow the **** up.

half you ****ers probably dont even box...armchair critics are the worst.

After seeing all these comments about Hatton I went back and looked at some of his matches. I have to say that I wasn't impressed with what I saw. Obviously it works for him he is undefeated. I give him absolutely no chance against PBF. I don't even want to see that fight because I don't think its a fair fight. His whole faced would be swollen by the 4th round and it would be nothing but target practice because his eyes would be shut. He needs to fight some top people before even thinks about fighting PBF. Castillo to me isn't really top person because his best days are so far behind him.
I also watched PBF vs. Castillo I and Castillo didn't win that fight he missed alot of his punches. What I find funny is that PBF makes so many people miss that when he gets hit the about the same amount of times the average fighter does people feel he lost. That right there should tell you all how great he is.

Hattons face might get swollen, and then again PBF might be pissing blood for week. We dont know what woiuld happen. That is why people want to see the fight. Im fed up with people telling me their synopsis for the fight, i would rather it be played out for real.

Ricky Hatton has never faced a fighter in the same ballpark as PBF. Hatton doesn't hit harder than Castillo in his prime when PBF faced him so if his body shots didn't work why would Hattons? Hattons style to me just isn't a good one to make PBF work hard to beat him. From what I saw he telegraphs himself everytime he is about to punch and if I see it imagine what else a top notch elite boxer PBF sees. No matter what boxer I like I am always realistic when it comes down to my judgement if he was to fight somebody I thought was better than him and most of you Hatton fans aren't being realistic when talking about this match up.

So true, you would just have to favor floyd in that fight, not saying miracles dont happen, but hatton winning that fight is a long shot, hatton himself knows it, and thats why he is in no hurry to fight with floyd. its that simple.
