well cotto is considered as one of PR's best talents, but i believe he has a lot of work to do, especially for the next 6 months, maybe after and if he defeats both urkal & margarito TKO prob. you 'll hear a lot of talk about cotto, being up there on the p4p list
How Come Miguel Cotto Is Never On A "P4P" List?

Barrera for all his skill, achievements and world rating duznt make my top 10 for the reasons u state AnorakHe's right, here's the current list (note that the Paler has dropped beneath The Blow, and Pongsmelly Pingpongjam has left the list altogether, prob. quite rightly as there was no way of proving it):
1 FLOYD MAYWEATHER Welterweight
2 MANNY PACQUIAO Jr. Lightweight
3 WINKY WRIGHT Middleweight
4 JERMAIN TAYLOR Middleweight
5 BERNARD HOPKINS Lt. Heavyweight
6 MARCO ANTONIO BARRERA Jr. Lightweight
7 RAFAEL MARQUEZ Bantamweight
8 JOE CALZAGHE Super Middleweight
9 RICKY HATTON Jr. Welterweight
10 MIGUEL COTTO
The thing with P4P is that a lot of it is so transient, it can only be guessed at. Kind of like how I always said (sorry, but I did) that the Hopkins post-Joppy was getting old and didn't really warrant the top spot anymore. Then when he meets someone who can press him, he loses it. (Perhaps unfairly).
The Amigo's another. I've got a lot of time for Marco, but I suspect that he's aged considerably and that if pressed he wouldn't really be able to hold his ground with many of the other P4P listees. He's an Amigo with a lot of miles on the clock.Comment

You know, call me cynical, but I do have to wonder whether the Ring putting him in there is just to sell copies on the "Floyd vs. Cotto" angle. (see the front cover of KO magazine, which is on the ring website: www.thering-online.com)
I remember that just before Floyd fought Zab, they slipped Judah into the top ten as well. That said, The Acting Amigo isn't in there, so...Comment

Yeah, you suspect that he's got old, right? It's just that I was thinking the other day that - while he could try and do something like Juarez II - if the Amigo fought The Paler now (and weight wasn't a factor, obviously) then it would be a big name for a relatively easy night's work at this stage in his career for the Paler. Marco's just looking ready to be taken advantage of IMO.
And if P4P is based on theoretical postulation, then the "they're getting old, they need to drop down" factor should also play a part.Comment

I think Cotto's best wins were against Abdulaev(excellent olympian, tough prospect), Corley Where he showed he could overcome adversity, flooring him 5 times in the process before stopping him. And obviously Quintana. Everyone was whining and yapping about how he can't take a punch, and his chin is glass....sure it is. But he might have as much heart as anyone so in my book that negates that. He can recover quickly from being floored much like Corrales can, and that makes him dangerous in coalition with his punch. All you have to do is watch his fight against Torres..an extremely hard puncher to see that he doesn't fold in fights.
and on a side note:
I remember right after the Corley fight.....people were making threads hating on Cotto....some of them were absurd. If I'm not mistaken, and I'm not going to search for it....there was a thread about a prospect fight between Arturo Gatti and Miguel Cotto. The majority of the people were claiming that all Gatti had to do was land 1 left hook and the fight was over.
I wonder what they think now, after Gatti was knocked out by Carlos "Tata" Baldomir....and Cotto is steamrolling opposition.

He's got all that heart for the crisis moments but i honestly rate his chin as good!Torres was an absaloute bomber who hit him with a ton of flush punches - nearly any 1 woulda went down but hardly any1 woulda camre back like Miguel did! Also Chop Chop IMO is an under rated puncher, but thats not the point he caught Cotto on the tempile with a perfect shot that duz bad things to any1! Throw in the fact that he was very badly weight drained for both fights and u cant really fault his chin. I remember before the Corley fight Commentators and such going on about how good his chin was! Baily and Sosa landed Flush - Nothing! He has a chinI think Cotto's best wins were against Abdulaev(excellent olympian, tough prospect), Corley Where he showed he could overcome adversity, flooring him 5 times in the process before stopping him.
