best way to hurt toney is with a sledgehammer to the gullet. the guy just takes your best and keeps on coming. even though he has been inconsistent throughout his career i'll never stop cheering for him...been a HUGE fan since '90.
I definitely see someone like Frazier breaking Toney down and stopping him in the 10th or so. Thats one kind of fighter that can beat Toney IMO. Not many can though.

The judges scores in the fight were ridiculous, unless the judges thought Toney barely won those rounds that they gave him so many of. Jirov had a good shot at winning imo, and I was pleasantly surprised when Toney got the decision because in my heart I knew it had been a scrap and could have gone either way.

How about you post your score for the fight?

I'm dying to see it. I'm sure you had Toney winning by at least 9 rounds.

It's a mother ****ing street fight and that's how it should be.

Toney and Jirov are nothing but street fighters. Toney the more polished.
Oh no doubt. That was a brawl to the end. Many of those roudns were close, but I thought the fight was a clear win for James. I have never been on the edge of my seat more than I was for that one.

My card was more in-line with the judges. James landed damn near everythign he threw at Vassiliy that night. His slip/counter-right was perfecto.

I had it 8 to 4. Many punches from Jirov was not really landing on Toney, it just that Lampley was making it sound like it was landing!

No no no...if you were watching the fight very closely (which I will assume that you were) you would have seen that Toney won that fight by at LEAST 3 points. Jirov had points deducted AND he was dropped, not to mention that he just lost more rounds.

I had Toney winning something like 116-110. Jirov had a few nice rounds when he was doing just like Tommy Brooks asked by "beating on him". Toney was landing the sharper, more damaging punches while actually attempting to defend himself.

End of story. You need to return to fight judging school. I'm serious.

I had the fight scored dead even at a draw including the knockdown.

yeah...i can see many of those great heavys beating james. the claim (back in the day on this site) used to be that "every great fighter 175 and up would crush toney in a round or two" which just wouldn't happen.

As for the fight, I've to watch it again to tell you which rounds Toney won, like I said before it's been years the last time I saw the fight!
So then just stop making **** up and pretending what you know what your talking about.
I know the facts, your just acting like a 14 year old.

With the point deduction and the 10-8 round I had the fight even.

Toney landed clearly the better punches, but you can't discredit the number of punches Jirov landed and the times Toney was stunned.

In the 8th round I believe......Jirov hit Toney with a body shot that made him grab his trunks and what appeared act like he was hurt.

You never know with Toney but the next round (9) was a mirror image and Jirov was just pounding on his belly making him back up.
