So by your theory you also are making my point, that for PBF to be considered great he needed to beat more than a few good boxers, PBF started his career on the right track started to compiled victories toward that goal of greatness, and he was well on his way at JRLW and LW but after that something change, he started to see himself greater than what he was and opted to for trips to the bank than to arena to fight the best out there, and this trend got even more obvious at WW…and at this point he IMO he will need far more than a win over ODLH to get back on track for to were he was before the JRWW jump….he is still young enough that he could salvage his legacy…I am not impress easily and his wins over a shot Gatti, a shot Sharmbe, Judah and a tough but obvious outgunned and outmatch Tata are not what I call blue chippers….ODLh merely would be a start..and he will need to go back to WW, and do what make great boxers transcend and what you so eloquently stated “clean the division” against the best of the WW, then retire and after that let history place him were he true place will be…but the fact that he wants history know and he self proclaimed his greatness shows insecurities and honeslty a very inflated view of himself an total disrespect for the history of Boxing, hell at this point he is not even on my top 10 WW’s of all time…..but it is time left for him to address these issues and if he wins then like I said history will know his true place amont the ATG’s….
See- there I agree with you. He cleaned house at the lower weight classes and then simply rushed up in weight without having done enough to solidify his status. My post was one of explanation for the passion behind this fight- and one of optimism. It may be a little late...but Floyd still has a chance if he wins this mega-fight to start earning his status as pound for pound best. I mean, at the very least, should he beat De la Hoya, I see a Mosley fight being imminent.

We are agreeing but by the same token, the reason you see as this fight to be great are the same reasons for me for this fight to be good but not "The Fight of the Century" as so many clowns here are claiming...I respect that you took the time to explain you opinion, and Imrespect it and we are in the same grounds just different directions....and assesment of the significance of this bout!!

Yeah, I'm not saying this is the biggest fight of the century. I will say, though, that because of the implications for Mayweather, and even for De la Hoya, two big, big names in our era- that is it one of the biggest fights of the last few years. I mean...it'll be really healthy for boxing because it'll get huge media attention, and I think it's one of the bigger match-ups in quite some time. I mean..even Mosley- De la Hoya or De la Hoya- Trinidad...people weren't hailing those fighters the way they are hailing Mayweather as a great right now- for right or wrong.

I know all you guys are going to get on my case, but really think about....what makes it a great fight, 2 fighters at his prime...Nope...the battle of the KO artist...Nope....2 legends...Nope...why the mystic....
because a fighter gets KO'd the **** up once doesn't mean hes done or a shot fighter.

Buddy. There has been nothing to indicate that De La Hoya is washed up. He took out Mayorga with ease and looked amazing doing it. On the other hand you have THE BEST fighter in the world period. De La Hoya is the biggest draw in boxing even now. If you dont think this is the biggest match ever then i dont know about you. Thiss fight will draw more money then any fight in the history of boxing guarranteed.

Fact is Oscar has a nice little resume regardless of win or loose he still took on some heavy competition and Floyd is number 1 p4p. There is no one out there in boxing right now who is a bigger name than Floyd or Oscar. This is a legend vs a soon to be legend. A top p4p of then and a top p4p of now. This fight is were the money is at...Why wouldn't they make it? What would you rather see in the 147 or 154?

Who said tht ODLH is washep up, he is way past his prime, and has enough boxing savyness to beat few out there...but PBF is not one of them...as for shot fighters I was talking 2 out the 4 most recent opponents of PBF-Gatti and Shaembe, as for ODLH latest opponent he also fill the definition of shot...I may add....

PBF the best fighter today, agree, ODLH the biggest draw...without a doubt, but put them both together and you will have a boring fight between a decaying boxer and a one that will try to embarrased the other fighter...so that spell bad fight to me...and if everyone in the world watch this fight, in back will not be more than just a great matrch for 2007 thats;s it, no superlative of the greatest martch ever, no epic displayed of "One for the ages" becuase it will not be that...so get used to it now....

ODLH is the best example how you can market someone in America if you are white and good looking...
are you saying oscar is white?
