I've noticed that British boxers have to do 10 times more to get any recognition here

...what he said has very little to do with being american, and more to do with the reality of boxing in terms of network exposure amongst the most respected boxing networks, as well as prestige in the americas (mexico/usa/etc). Your arguing an angle more or less directed at saying "WELL BECAUSE YOUR AMERICAN, YOUR SO ARROGANT, YOU DONT REALIZE THAT NOT ONLY ARE YOU WRONG, BUT CHINA IS MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU"

thus this will spawn someone else to attempt to make this into a geo political argument about who the most powerful nation on earth is, rather than discuss the subject at hand, this is the wrong way to argue a point. American exposure is some of the best exposure you can get in terms of legacy/prestige.

I was gonna say that, but then I realised that Run/W was doing the "but he fights in the States" routine.

I never realised Run/W was so US-centric before this week. I also never knew that he supported punk talk. (I'm not saying he talks like a punk, but he admires others who do).

If there's a fight that's not screened in the UK as sometimes happens, I download it. But in the US they don't seem to as much.

I mean, I'm really talking about idiots like Pantera who think fighters "don't matter" if they don't fight in the States.

I don't know Annie I always thought most members of this site download fights as they go. I do mine most monday mornings and I watch what people here talk about (and British posters and British fighters in fact dominate this site). When a fight happens in the UK or on the Continent there are usually plenty of others who have seen it. Think of the controversy of Miranda-Abraham; there were dozens of threads and it seemd everyone watched. I know it had an American fighter in it but it required checking the Fight DL section.

            The "truth" has spoken.

Not every American; but the vast number, I would say.....especially those who lead towards "casual fan" status.

Here's a point... the P4P rankings. Now, these are VERY hypothetical.

I was saying for over a YEAR on here that Hopkins was no longer P4P No.1 after the Joppy fight, that he'd gotten old so his status should have slipped. But he still held onto the slot.

When he "lost" to Taylor he was off the top ten altogether. How does that work??? One day the guy would beat any other boxer if size wasn't an issue, then he loses by CLOSE SPLIT DECISION and he's not even top ten?

Or Joe Blow. He couldn't get within MILES of the rankings, but then he beats Lacy and he's a cert for it.

I'm just pointing out that such an system can clearly be flawed (as journalists aren't flawless) and can often be led by their exposure to certain fighters. The notable exception to this is Pongsmellek PingPongJam, who's in the top ten even though the writers admit he's fighting crap.

Where do you download them from? Just Youtube or is there a boxing wondersite I haven't yet discovered?

Don't give me that bull**** - when you've missed a fight on HBO the chief of the next tribe down tells you the result by smoke signal.
