Have you ever heard the expression "style makes fights"? Just because Clottey struggled with Gutierezz, doesn't mean they are equals as fighters. In reality, Clottey is well above "C level".

I know the expression, but the fact that Clottey had serious trouble with a young, inexperienced fighter and then not only took Tony the distance, but made him look bad doing it, doesnt speak well for Margirito's ability.

Clottey is pretty average. He isnt great in any one aspect but isnt bad in any either.
He has ok speed, ok skills, good chin, ok power, ok defense.

Clottey is a good fighter. He has quick hands, a tight defense, above average power and he punches in combination pretty well. Give the guy some credit...he's tough and comes well prepared to fight.

Richard Gutierrez was an undefeated prospect. That fight (if you watched it) wasn't some close controversial win either. Clottey beat him pretty comfortably. The even scorecard was blasphemous in comparison with the other two cards, which reflected the action of the fight more accurately.

you're sensationalizing. he didn't have serious trouble. the kid gave him a tough fight but clottey wasn't out on his feet or in danger of losing the fight like lacy was last night.

Then he comes back in his next fight to bust up Jermain Taylor, a fighter levels above Soliman in terms of skill and size.

And Soliman was getting all of this praise, and barely beat a nobody in his last fight.
