No one's brought up Margarito's injury?

Okay, maybe I haven't read through enough threads but I don't think I've seen anyone bring up Margarito's ankle injury that ocurred right before the fight with Clottey. People were worried this fight would be called off yet Margarito fought on and won. I haven't seen the fight but is it possible the ankle hurt his performance? An injured ankle can hurt more than just mobility. Punching power suffers as well.

yea i've read that too...not to mention he had a 10 month layover in between fights...I think people might be reacting a little too harshly

How is it weak? Explain that to me. The injury was well known before the fight and it was begining to look like the fight would be called off because of it. I was a bit afraid of this fight for that very reason. I didn't know if it would start acting up in the middle of the fight. People seem to forget that boxers are human beings and injuries do occur. They also do have an adverse effect on a fighter's performance. Not everything is an excuse.

because were all tired of hearing about the "MOST FEARED WELTERWEIGHT IN THE WORLD" and what we saw last night had nothing to do with injury, and everything to do with the fact that hes a C- fighter.

His opponent was injured too. Nobody has said the ankle affected his performance, just that fractured wrist. I haven't seen the fight but before or after this fight I still think Floyd would UD Margarito.

Some of those who have seen it say Margarito was losing until Clottey messed up his hand.

Margarito almost always loses or has trouble during the early rounds. That would be nothing new.

Clearly Tony was in good enough condition where he wanted to go through with the fight and there was no evidence of the injury during the fight.

Why does everyone act like Clottey is some nobody? He was a very highly respected prospect until the DQ loss to Baldomir, in a fight he was winning.

I think Clottey is not getting enough respect. People are like "Clottey did so good because Margarito is overrated."

No, Clottey did good because Clottey is GOOD.

Has anyone watched Margarito fight before? This is not the first time that he was outboxed early on. He is a known slow starter and usually gives away several of the early rounds.

I have 20 of his fights and it was like many of his fights.
