Remember Ali is almost out on his feet, Dundee first has to go through the whole "sit down, stand up" routine with Ali even before Dundee begins to work on him, and would have noticed the tear in the glove.

I was under the impression they thought the tear small and allowed the fight to continue without replacement.

He was not clear about that part, only saying the replacements were near by. Wonder why he noted where the replacement gloves were located instead of just saying the gloves were not changed. Simpler reply, more definitive.

I realized after I wrote why that individual would bother to point out where the replacement gloves were located even if not needed.

He was the Commission (?) and probably was tried of hearing how they had to (supposedly) rummage around the dressing room looking for gloves. That story probably offended him so he made damn sure everyone knew there were extra gloves at ringside even if not needed.

I posted the link to the video of Cooper, his manager, Ali and Dundee immediately after the fight. Nobody said there was a delay. The one reporter even asked Dundee if calling the ref over to point out the tear in the palm of the glove gave him more time, and Dundee says NO.

(LET ME REPEAT THAT. Dundee was asked if calling the ref over to point out the tear resulted in Ali getting more time to recover, and DUNDEE says no.)

Before international satellite feeds, US fighters used to go to Europe to box and come home with all kinds of stories. Dundee told stories about the Cooper fight for decades because it wasn't available to watch in the US for decades. Then it was ... and everyone wondered where the time delay to replace the glove was ... because we'd been hearing that story for years.

But it never happened. Sorry. The myth was shown to be just that a long time ago. You must not have been keeping up.
