Exactly. He can deny all he wants, but facts are facts. And it's not like Leonard hadn't done it another time. In the No Mas ESPN doc, Duran asks Leonard why he waited so long to give him a third fight and Leonard says "because I could." But when a big star comes around offering, they usually accept because it means a big payday. It doesn't mean they give in right away, but they usually eventually sign to fight them. He didn't do it often, but Leonard pulled this a couple of times in his career.

hagler had a choice he was set for life and had made big money fighting hearns and Duran and if he felt that he could not beat leonard he should have retired.
No casual no mandatory so what you talking about....in fact that’s why hagler lost his WBA title because leonard was not there mandatory.
You have Avery cloudy memory of actually what happened with this fight....it was hagler who said he will sit back and lick his chops.
The pint I make is people blame Leonard for taking on a fighter who wanted a bigger purse for less rounds and then blaming him for stepping in the ring....against a fighter that was smaller by 14lbs , had not boxed for over 3 years and had a repaired detached retina.
Hagler got over confident because he thought he would stop leonard and when he didn’t that’s when all the excuses came pouring out from him and his fans.
Leonard also offered hagler a fight a year later and hagler said no and yet leonard would not give him a rematch according to him and his fans
I believe the title was absolutely meaningless to Leonard except as a marketing tool. It was all about beating Hagler and thta's what the general public felt as well.
Disagree, Hagler was constantly complaining that he didn't make the big money like Leonard/Duran/Hearns had -- and when he finally did sign with Leonard, his backers the Brothers Petronelli told Hagler that 'this was his payday (the payday he had been waiting for) and they would not take their 33%.' Hagler to his credit would have none of it and insisted that they take their percentage.
But this is an argument over perception so I think we will need to agree to disagree.Comment

Nope. It most certainly does not. If it did, your boy Ray wouldn't be on the list.
Notice how you're the only one veering off the track here?
Duran handled Ray in Montreal. It was complete ownage. Ray never lived down that day.
Only a fa.gg with a raging hard on for Leonard who assert otherwise.
What happened to the days when guys like you hung yourselves?
Please, *****, show me when Ray ever put on a performance like Duran did in the Buchanan fight, DeJesus II & III, the Palomino fight... or proved superior to a fighter the calibre of Duran in Montreal.
Yeah, I have no idea what you're talking about, or who you are. But you never got anything other than bent over by me in any discussions regarding Lewis. Lewis and Ray... I am noticing your type.
No one gives Ray credit for winning the rematch... except you. A raging fa.gg, so I think that should tell you something. We get it, you have a crush on Rayleonard. That don't make him any better or worse a fighter.
If an Italian Judge scored it a draw, that tells the rest of the world Duran pretty much swept the cards.
Jon Jones wins every decision his fights make it to... even the ones he's clearly lost. Only an imbecile would think cards flattering to the Big-Draw are indicative of anything factual.
You read the Boxing tabloids, and don't actually watch Boxing matches.
I am a little surprised, though.... Griffith is one of YOUR boys. I dunno, I just see you two having a lot of fun together.
But back to the business of Boxing: refer to the Tiger and Archer fights where he demonstrates his defensive and offensive skills, respectively. You can also find his fights with Monzon, Briscoe, Rodriguez, Paret and Benvenuti. There's an obvious conclusion to be drawn from those performances.
Seriously, you don't need others to do your thinking for you.
Hey now! Be nice and I will educate you on a new fighter. Look at how your love affair for Liston and Tunney took off after I introduced you to them.Comment

Yeah, but you lied about not having a gag reflex, and honestly... I still like your mom's head game better.
Oh, I don't know.... maybe thoroughly beating a larger, younger opponent at the top of his game when he has given everything he has to give?

Oh wow, an Italian judge!? Was it one of the ones who gave Loi the nod over Ortiz, even though he'd been purely out-classed and floored twice?

First of all, folks, never quote the halfwit Rusty. Secondly, never address him directly because that is lowering yourself. He should receive only indirect acknowledgement for being a registered, thoroughbred halfwit.Comment

Let me educate you so you understand....after Duran quit ....Duran hit rock bottom , he lost to Kirkland Laing , almost lost to jimmy batten and went into exile because no promoter would touch him and even his management left him and don king would not touch him.....he finally got resurrected when he strung a few wins together and them beat Davey moore....he then signed for hagler in 1983 when leonard was retired ...Duran lost to hagler in 1983 and then faced hearns in 1984 and was koed brutally , 2 years later then faced off with haglers half brother in Robbie Simms and lost a wide decision .......when exactly did Duran prove himself worthy of a 3rd fight.
Don’t talk out your ****ing ass...Duran only when he beat Iran Barkley was again a fighter that could be sold as a viable opponent for leonard.
If your gonna try and talk about the 4 kings with me at least know the history.
Duran lost all his major fights from 1982 to 1988 and Yet Leonard avoided giving him another shot according to you.
Had nothing to do with the fact Duran lost to hagler in 1983 , hearns in 1984 , Simms 1986 and never boxed for a world title till 1989 in Iran Barkley and coincidentally straight after leonard boxed him.
From December 1980 to 1982 ...Duran went awol . Lost to Benitez and Laing and yet it’s Leonard’s fault why Duran never got a rematch.

leonard beat Benitez and stopped him...yeah the Benitez who schooled Duran...yeah leonard stopped hearns in fight of the year 1981 and one of the greatest fights in history ...yeah the Hearns who knocked out Duran ....leonard all, through his prime turned up in top condition and focused....never ballooned in weight and never had Angelo Dundee screaming at him to get out of bed ...yeah and never quit mid fight because he was Getting schooled.
