Often the stories about Godfrey and Sully are shared in a manner to relieve Sully his guilt for not fighting Godfrey. That's fine, and maybe it's true stuff too, but, no matter how you cut it, the man who " Can lick any son of a ***** in the building" not fighting the other premiere Boston attraction will always have a special irony to it.

I think it's a fair point. Regardless of situation. Y'all're a bit close to it, but, if Dempsey said he'd fight any man then the right man to make him say no showed up, understandable or not, that **** is funny.

Ali fighting any man in an ex and Frazier shows up day of, Ali says **** that noise, perfectly understandable, still funny as ****.

I certainly agree. What was even funnier to me actually was when he said that instead he would fight TWO white men.

When the article stated that 2 white heavies then stepped up, and Kearns immediately said no, I nearly busted a gut laughing. Honestly, the outing was an epic failure for Dempsey. Doesn't mean he was any less of a champion. But yea..he didn't come out of that one looking good at all.

More BS. It was common to have exhibitions in those days where a fighter “takes on all comers”. All comers would be local fighters not This is exactly what Dempseys management was doing here. That does not mean he takes on Joe Jeanette or any other real pro. Another example of your complete lack of historical perspective. Learn the sports history as what it was. Not what you want it to be.

Bullshlt. If that were the case, why were the other fighters, "real pros."

Get out of here with this bullshlt. Now they weren't "real pros." I suppose they were fake pros

Why was Joe Jeannette's original opponent Kid Norfolk? I guess he wasn't a real pro, huh? Did you check out the rest of the card? Benny Leonard vs. Jack Britton. Yea. Neither one of those guys were champions, right? Can't be real pros.

        Any other excuse?

You do not know what you are taking about. Dempsey was “taking on all comers” does not mean fighting Jess Willard or Joe Jeanette! Do you know anything about boxing history?????? You are losing any little credibility you have very quickly.

He said he would fight ANY heavyweight.

Then said he would fight ANY TWO WHITE heavyweights.

Now you're saying that means he will not fight any heavyweight.

I didn't know the English language changed to fit your Dempsey agenda. Tell us more.

Please tell everyone why you ignore the known history and only present your distorted version of the known history. Why does every single point you try to make ignore the known history?

Tell us why you are saying that the matches were to consist of "not real pros" but had Benny Leonard vs. Jack Britton.

Did you pull that from your ass or what? Let us know. Because everything that I've posted is legit.

Ali made a big scene for Norton 3 screaming he'd whoop any heavywt in the world, but of course certified he ducked Foremans rematch...sorted...

Well if Ali ducked Foreman's rematch then he ducked Foreman's rematch.

Make a thread about it and let everyone know.

                      - -This ain't a Dempsey thread.

The OP posited a non sequitur and it has devolved from there as your presence indicates.
