Ron Lyle vs Deontay Wilder

Max Baer was a good fighter, you just don't know what you are watching because you have never boxed. Same goes for Lyle, he's twice as skilled as Wilder. He throws balanced shots and places them. He changes his speed up, changes his rythm up. All textbook stuff. He doesn't do a 360 when he misses.

Baer was a very reckless fighter, but he had fighting skills. You don't know what you are watching that's the problem. You think skills are just who returns their hands back to the same position perfectly. Or if a fighter constantly keeps his stance perfect. It's really all just aesthetic bull**** that looks nice to someone who doesn't understand the sweet science. Boxing is all about timing and feints, a guy like gene Fullmer probably looks like a wild swinging bum to you, but he's actually a crafty and difficult fighter for anyone.

Maidana for all intents and purposes is a plodding wild swinging fighter, with crude but effective fighting skills that allowed him to contend with Mayweather, could have scored it a draw or a win in his favor.

I don't have old time bias, the games just changed. Fury exposed Wilder for the clown that he is. Fury uses old school tricks he copied from old fighters, textbook **** they all did. He understood Wilder was just a modern day hypejob clown who was putting on an act and really isn't a killer at all.

But that being said, this widestanced stilt legged 720 swinging helecopter Wilder still became a world champ today, so don't ever knock Max Baer, even by your own logic.

Baer was a clown for that fight lol. He had skills and a great right, one of the best. Many felt that Max didn't want to use killer instinct after he brained a few guys.

I have sparring videos up. I never posted a speed bag video. They are up rn and I'm not denying anything. So do you think I'm a ****ty boxer who's pretending? I'm curious, once you settle down if that's what you think.

I think Ron Lyle is a better boxer than Deontay Wilder. And has more skill. Tried to explain my reasons why but you keep going on about daddy issues, me boosting old fighters for attention. At this point you think I just do it for attention? Stop taking **** so personal, it's annoying when every one of your responses to me goes back to me patting myself on the back and how angry you are about it lol.

And what old timers am I impressing? Theres hardly anyone on here, most overlook old fighters and make up bull**** with no proof. Like advances in modern conditioning (hasn't been proven in boxing) men are bigger (how, there's always been huge heavyweights) and that fighters like Joe Louis are too small even though 6 ft tall Andy Ruizes are the exception some how.

The only thing I'll admit is I go too far occasionally because the opposition is going too far themselves.

There isn't a bigger advocate for old time fighters than myself. But i know reality is nuanced. You take it too far.

Yeah, and at Heavyweight that means a lot.

Tommy Loughran had high praise for a young Baer, after taking him to a UD. He didn't think Baer was just a big lumox.

But Heavyweights have gotten bigger and more skilled. I don't doubt that Baer had the TALENT to succeed in subsequent generations, to include the present, but I'm incredulous that the man who walloped Schmeling could be placed in front of men his size (or bigger) who are also more polished Boxers and still succeed.

I think the point remains that being big means you don't have to fight like Finito Lopez to succeed. In the case of a guy like Lyle that applies, too. He had a natural talent, and studied boxing in earnest. But his size and power compensated for alot. Suddenly, against Wilder - not unlike Schmeling against Baer - he'd be the smaller, less physically equipped man.

Really that's the story of all 70's Heavyweights against the titans of today. Not unlike how men like Quarry, Foster and Patterson failed for lack of size, those Heavyweights would fail for lack of size today.

You didn't deny that you're very small, so the whole glorifying smaller HW's is probably because it makes you feel better about being short/skinny.
