  • Ron Lyle vs Deontay Wilder

I always thought Wilder would have had this one in the bag, but after last night, I'm not so sure. Lyle hit much harder than Fury and we saw how Fury had Wilder in a bad state. Lyle did stop Shavers and almost got George Foreman. Who takes this battle?

I remember watching the Ali/Lyle fight. Doubt that Wilder could hang with him.

Not saying that Wilder wins this, just that the Fury comparison (though fresh in our mind) isnt really as relevant. Fury is 6 inches taller and has 9 inch longer reach than Lyle; it is that advantage that he has (which Lyle does not have) which allowed him to dominate Wilder.

Wilder doesn't know how to fight against someone bigger than him, he can't keep them at bay with his reach and measure the right. Wilder does have the size advantage against Lyle, which gives him that punchers chance.

To me, Wilder Lyle is still a 'who lands first' type contest

I can agree. Although Lyle did get up from that left hook that Earnie Shavers decked him with.

Well, Lyle is better than Wilder.

Wilder has the punchers chance, but a small chance. The skill gap is pretty big, Lyles a pro. And he can take a shot. I'm not convinced Wilder can sleep anyone like the media is selling. He's only slept cans, guys Lyle woulda slept just as easy

I knew this before Fury wooped Wilder, I don't get how some guys on this forum have watched 4 decades of boxing and still fall for the hype of a guy like Wilder.

Fury, Wilder and Joshua don't beat any half decent boxer from a more serious era.

Fury beat Wilder because he wasn't scared of him. That's the number 1 reason. Sure Lyles not 6'9 but he hits a lot harder than Fury and I believe takes a better shot.

Fury said he beat Wilder by going after him and not being terrified of the big right hand like most of Wilder's opponents were.

Ron Lyle feared nobody. He went toe to toe with some of the scariest and biggest punchers in the history of boxing. Shavers, Foreman, etc...

Lyle vs Wilder would be a war. Lyle does not back down.

Before you can answer the question you have to account for some variables- most specifically the weight of Wilder's pre fight costume.

Anything over 30 lbs and you gotta make Lyle the favorite.

                    hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

Maybe watch a little bit of Lyle before saying that.

Quarry made Lyle look like a hack. He even stunned him - at least twice.

Seriously, more fit and technically sound fighters than Ron Lyle have entered the ring against Wilder and been starched.

Lyle was a bad man. Very scary, but mostly because of his size, power and intensity. Against Wilder none of that is a factor.

He's a like shyte version of Brzeale.

Wilder put Fury on the mat twice. Quarry put on a clinic against Lyle.

Seriously, don't comment on fighters you've never seen fight.
