Who was more perfect: Sugar Ray Robinson or Ricardo Lopez

Lopez fought a bunch of nobodies in two manufactured weight classes that didn't exist in the 40s and 50s, for belts that didn't exist in the 40s and 50s, and moved up three pounds in his entire championship career. He did put a whipping on Nene Sanchez, tho.Comment

"Sugar Ray Robinson is the best boxer that ever lived"
"What about Joe Louis?"
"The Brown Bomber. Now that was a great fighter" haha great stuff. I guess Barry Blaustein knew his boxing.Comment

Lopez was a well-rounded very good fighter. Not on Robinson's level though. Trained by Nacho, you can see a similar style to Juan Marquez, though JMM relied more on counter-punching. I would put Lopez on the same level as JMM, Cotto, Carlos Ortiz, and a lot of other ATGs.Comment

It is not a fair comparison Joe Louis was 137 years old.Comment

Obviously Ray Robinson had more tools and proved his greatness against much better opposition.
But I do enjoy watching Ricardo Lopez. He threw intelligent, fluid combinations.Comment
