Another interesting fact about Marciano that some of you may have known, and some of you may not have known.

He actually lost 2 bouts AFTER he became a professional, but these were amateur bouts.

One was labeled a robbery, and the other was a legit loss, but they were about 3 rounders, I believe. The opponent who beat him stated that had it been a 15 round bout, he wouldn't have stood a chance.

As mentioned earlier, when the old time boxing experts made rankings of heavyweight champions Rocky was usually ranked in the back half of the top 10.

It is only today that people seem desperate to push him to the top spots ahead of more deserving champs like Jack Dempsey for example.
No they aren't. Not anyone who knows WTF they're talking about when it comes to boxing anyway. I'm a Marciano fan, obviously, but I'm not delusional, so no way do I think he ranks above guys like Louis, Ali and Dempsey.

False equivalency. It's not the same thing and you know it. Would you favor Loma or Gervonta Davis having even a 10% chance of winning against a guy like Kovalev or any other top light heavyweight? Yet Dempsey routinely beat up guys that were proportionally the same size bigger.
i can imagine what Rocky would do to Valuev, his ribs would be broken inside of 12 rounds

Jones would be lucky to last 4 rds before getting sparked cold. Brutal knockout.
if the Rock can hit Jones, i think it's over.

Charles was mentally and physically diminished when he fought Rocky. young charles with the killer instinct would have done better, just like young louis would have been one of Marciano's toughest fights. prime louis was an incredible puncher, he broke bones with his combinations just like dempsey. i think because of his footwork Billy Conn has a good chance, but he can't have any mental lapses during the fight. All it takes is one attempt to stand and trade with Rocky and Conn gets stretched out on the canvas just like louis did to him. i disagree about Evander though, holy liked to brawl, he wouldn't box for the whole fight. when he stands and trades with Rocky he gets KD'd, maybe knocked out

--- Big Rocky the boxer fan, but sure, most realize he had limitations, but what a fighter!

He was the Army champ when decommissioned after ww2 where he'd already cleaned out an English pub in a brawl.

He immediately secured a tryout as a catcher for the Chicago Cubs in Fayetteville, North Carolina where 2 of the greatest athletes in history played baseball, Babe Ruth and Jim Thorpe.

They all took different trajectories, but all their names are iconic legends...just sayin'...

Arch that is actually untrue. It's been proven that Ali had no extra time in between rounds to recover. Myth.

It's been discussed at length with the video of the fight etc over on ******** boxing for one. From memory they did not have another set of gloves so the ones Ali was wearing were not replaced. There was as such no extra time given to Ali. The bell rang on time for the next and final round.
