They woke up at 4am, fueled their morning wiht whiskey and cigarettes, traveled 20 miles on a mule, fought 30 rounds, ate a lunch of boiled beef and cabbage, washed down with dirt and water, and rode another 20 miles and fought somebody else for another 30 rounds. Like every day.

The key to realizing it has not been spliced is to locate the referee's fat ass (which you don't want to confuse with Dundee's really fat ass) during the close-up corner shot to the switch to the long shot that begins the round. Seriously, conformation lies with locating the ref's fat ass; there is no time missing; the ref's location is consistent.
