    Did he get PAID? YES!.

The old timers picked up all the pennies they was available
    to them.
Sugar Ray fought Stan Harrington twice at the end of his career loosing to decisions to Stan. Stan was a very tough guy and a contender at different times in his career. He also fought out of Hawaii were both fights took place and Sugarman got all expenses and a nice pay day TWICE.
In Sugarmans top form he beats Stan put at the end an all expenses paid road trip to the island paradise was a great trip TWICE!

When you see the greats fighting some guy who was 7-9-5 in some obscure town their getting paid and the folks in that town get a chance to see an ATG. They may not be in ATG form but they get a chance of see their favorite.

ps Dibiase said some smart azz crap to Archie during promo and Archie told him that he's waltz with him then bounce him. He did!

    Ray

The thing is that these 3 fights that Archie fought against Pro wrestlers are included in his record. So if you include his fights you have to include Mayweathers. If you take those 3 fights out Archie's KO total will go down as well.

And even if you get a patch or button or whatever it is, I'd STILL not let the man choke me unconscious. I'd probably have a heck of a migraine the rest of the day and I already get enough of those. I love it when people that disrespect a certain martial art, be BJJ, judo, boxing or whatever, get beat and learn to respect that fighting style. I'd rather let someone do a lot of other things, like a pretty lady kiss me. There's a classic episode of the TV comedy Sledge Hammer where Lebell plays an archbishop that's targeted by a sniper. This was the first time I had heard of Gene Lebell, since the episode has commentary on the DVD of it. When Hammer goes on stage to shield Lebell, Gene thinks Hammer is attacking him and proceeds to throw and slam him a few times in some nice stunt work on both sides.

What you are referring to regarding getting choked out...well its an acquired taste. I can say this with the strictest conviction because I am an example of that. You know how some guys are born badazz...love to fight? well I was not one of those guys! lol. But martial arts is like anything else, when one gets to the level of technical excellence you really have to feel the technique to appreciate how it is done.

A really goos AikiJutsu man once threw me with a wrist twist...his technique was so good, so precise, that my body threw up because it could feel how easy it was for the wrist to snap when this guy threw me...that is amazing to me. Chokes, when done properly do not feel bad at all. As a matter of fact one feels very little. Thats the art. When leBell chokes you he can let you feel various levels of the air leaving you, or he can make it so one just goes to sleep.

But the trick in training is to feel the technique to understand the technique.

Just be aware that if we consider Hawaii part of America...which at last check we do, the first mixed martial arts bouts were held during the 1920s on the big island Hawaii. “Henry” Okazaki a Jui Jutsu man plied his art against all commers including CArl Kayo Morris:

A hotbed of jujitsu, thanks to a significant number of Japanese workers toiling on the Big Island’s plantations, Hilo was Okazaki’s fighting epicenter. In 1922, he faced the toughest match of his life. British boxer Carl “Kayo” Morris traveled to the islands in search of mixed-discipline bouts. After roughing up several local fighters, Morris came across Okazaki, whom he battered in the first of six three-minute rounds. However, the Japanese fighter survived a broken nose before putting the boxer out with an injured arm. The victory propelled Okazaki into hallowed ground, and helped establish a new style of martial arts, Danzan-Ryu jujitsu… Sports Illustrated

Thank you Damontucker for the facts regarding these matches.

I don't care! I don't give a damn about Mayweather or what ever records he has. After his lighter weight and lower division fights I discount everything he's done at welter.
He runs like a scared girl and hand picked his opponents.

Take Moore's KO's away from him because of the wrestlers being novices, whats Archie got then 126 KO's?

hahahahaha I'll guarantee you that Archie trades the KO numbers over the $$$$$$ numbers!!!!!!!

Nice thought, but more likely Floyd's biggest money making opportunity, since Conor also generated a huge amount of PPV buys in his UFC fights and was one of the few guys to get a piece of PPV sales, like Floyd does for his boxing matches. Plus an easy fight for win #50 for him. Hell, Conor made so much from his fight with Floyd, nobody knows when, or if, he ever returns to the cage. It's already been 14 months, which is an eternity for any fighter. What is it Marvin Hagler used to say? It's hard to get out of bed when you're wearling silk pajamas?

Cool. What I mean is, some people volunteer to let Gene Lebell choke them out, so they can get some special patch from him saying so.

Yes, over the years boxing has changed. Years ago the fighters had to fight a lot more just to make money. That is Not the case today!

I was at a meeting a few years ago and some of the best boxing minds attended. Mayweather's name came up and the head of the New York Boxing Commission stated that Mayweather was the Best Boxing Business man ever!

Robinson use to try to get the best deal every time he fought later in his career as well.

Mayweather did fight 22 different World Champions 23 times, 16 in a row, from the Featherweight division to the Middleweight.

I have relatives who live in Hawaii. A few years ago around the time of the Pro Bowl, local newspapers reported a brawl at a Waikiki bar between some players from the Pro Bowl and bar bouncers. It was reported that the footballer players did not do well at all against the huge local bouncers. I would love to find that article.
