      vs.

this is butterfly1964 and welcome to the Arcadia Pavilion in Oakland, CA for fight #3 between Max Baer and Jack Dempsey. Dempsey is a 5 to 1 favorite. can baer shake off the effects of a near death experience from dempsey's thunder and lightning, or will it be business as usaul for the manassah mauler. Baer was in better shape today at 208, and dempsey was 189. the press conference was about average excitement, so lets just go straight to the fight! here's the tale of the tape.

      Max Baer

      age: 25
      height: 6'-2 1/2"
      weight: 208
      reach: 80"
      record: 40-7-0 (30ko)

      Jack Dempsey

      age: 28
      height: 6'-1"
      weight: 189
      reach: 77"
      record: 61-4-9 (49ko)

dempsey is in the ring now and a few cheers could be heard. dempsey is wearing a white robe. now baer comes in and the crowd goes wild! here's michael buffer.

buffer: "Lllllllllllets get ready to rumbllllllllllleeee!! fighting in the blue corner, from Manassah, CO, he wears solid black trunks, he stands 6'1, he weighs one eighty-nine, the manassah mauler, Jaack Dempseeey! and in the red corner, from Livermore, CA, wearing white trunks, he stands 6'2 and one-half inch, weighing twoooo-oooh-eeeight, the Livermore Larupper, Maaaaaaaaaax Baaaaaaaeeeeeeeeeeeerr!! (loud cheers)

both men listen to mark conn's instructions.

Round 1: Both men trade blows. dempsey ducks under a punch and throws a tremendous uppercut that hurts max. max somehow recovers and hits dempsey with a right hand that drops dempsey! dempsey gets up quickly and trades with baer and baer goes down. dempsey sees blood and continues to knockdown max four more times! the round ends as baer is wobbly-legged: dempsey and baer lisen to instructions from their trainers.

Round 2: dempsey continues him onslaught and floores max again. this time max gets up and retaliales. dempsey is flored by a hellacious right! dempsey gets up and max pours it on. max drops dempsey two more times, and the second time dempsey is slow in getting up. they get into a clinch, and the round ends: dempsey needs some reviving and baer is poised and ready.

Round 3: Dempsey croutches low, but to no avail as baer floores him again! the crowd is on their feet as they watch dempsey go down again. dempsey get up nd knocks baer down 11 times! the crowd is tunned and silent as they watch their fighter go down from a barrage of dempsey left hooks. baer barely holds on, but he survives the round: baer looks better than he should and dempsey looks ready for the kill!

Round 4: dempsey continues his onslaught knocking down baer again! baer gets up and tries to tie dempsey up, but dempsey is strong in there. dempsey hits to the body and throws a fast comination and baer goes down again! this time baer is mad. he gets up and retaliates. a barrage of punches from the larupper from livermore hurts dempsey, and a right hand knocks dempsey through the ropes and clean out of the ring ala firpo! dempsey landed on the sportswriter's desk, and they all take dempsey and push him back into the ring. dempsey is rubbery-legged, but somehow, he survives the round: dempsey is hurt and confused, but when the warning bell sounds he looks ok.

Round 5: both men get into a clinch, and dempsey does some body work. dempsey's right stun baer, and his left hook sends max down. baer get's up and dempsey throws an uppercut, that sends max to the canvas for good!

buffer: "The winner at 1:13 of the fifth round via ko, Jaaack Deempseey!!"

Manager Doc Hearns congradulate dempsey as a few boos can be heard. this was probably the best fight so far in this tournament!! now for the east fights. lets stroll over to Cincinnati, OH.

        yea ok

where was the famous Marciano combo

two body shots, right uppercut/hook and then a cross

now doubht that would have KO'd holyfeild

no way does Holyfeild out muscle Marciano as you said that fight would not got that way the only thing you had right was holyfeild boxing around Marciano---well at least he won the first time, i'm just saying that it seems unlikely that holyfeild wouldn't get ko'd well atleast if Holyfeild were to win thats the way it would happen

PTS for you just for typing so much

btw Ali not getting hit by Jefferies 15-0 UD come on...jeez

i mean i understand ou like Ali and you may not know that much about jefferies but if i'm correct Ali has never gone 15 rounds without getting hit at least once, especially if it were a prime jefferies (who btw beat him in a computer fight).

        come on

most of the other ones i agree with though

        good job beside those

well i'm gunna start reading this thread more oftne

            vs.

butterfly1964 here, at Cincinnati Gardens in Cincinnati, OH to bring you fight #3 between Ezzard Charles and Joe Louis. Louis pretty much dominated the first two fights, but how will it go down tonight? alot of things can happen in a series, so don't count Ez out on this one. earlier i interviewed charles.

butterfly1964: "Well, how are you gonna have an answer to louis this time?"

ezzard charles: "Well, first off, i'm in great shape. I'll try to counter joe's jab with a right hand, like what max schmeling did. Also i'm fighting in front of my fans this time, not louis'. so the crowd will be a big boost for me."

butterfly1964: "What about louis' power. How will you deal with that?"

charles: "I'll just keep away from him as long as possible and try not to end up with a clinch with him."

butterfly1964: "Mr. Charles, thank you for your time, and i wish you luck in this fight."

            charles: "Thank you very much!"

well, charles seems confident. louis is now a 10 to 1 favorite and a cinch to win. louis was in great shape as usual at 206 1/2, and charles was 185. here's the tale of the tape.

            Ezzard Charles

            age: 29
            height: 6'
            weight: 185
            reach: 73"
            record: 61-5-1 (35ko)

            Joe Louis

            age: 28
            height: 6'-2"
            weight: 206 1/2
            reach: 76"
            record: 56-1-0 (50ko)

And now joe louis is coming into the ring wearing a silver robe. a few cheers could be heard. and those cheers now are getting louder and louder as Ezzy himself comes into view! the crowd goes wild as the hometown boy takes off his purple robe. here is michael buffer!

michael buffer:"Ladies and gentlemen, lllllllllllets get ready to rumblllllllleeee!!! In the blue corner, wearing silver trunks with white trim, from Detroit, MI, he stands 6-feet two, he weighs two ooh six and a half, the brown bomber, joooee loouuiiss! and in the red corner, from Cincinnati, OH, wearing solid purple trunks, standing six feet, he weighs 185, the cincinnatti cobra, ezzaaaarrrd chaaaarless!! (loud applause from the entire stadium).

Mark Conn: "protect yourself at all times. i want to to break when i tell you to break, in event of a knockdown, i want you to go to the farthest neutral corner until i tell you to come out. three knockdowns in any round, and the fight is automatically stopped. if a fighter is knocked down, he will take the mandatory eight-count. if knocked down, a fighter will be saved by the bell if the round ends before i finish the 10-count, any questions? ok shake hands.

            both men are ready.

Round 1: louis is on the hunt, and charles stay's away. louis jabs, and charles counters. this happens about 5 times, and then louis figures out what charles is trying to do. louis then fakes a jab and then charles attempts to counter, but louis slips the punch and reverse counters with a right cross that shakes charles. louiis folows up with his famous fluury and down goes charles!! the crowd is on their feet as charles ets up at the count of 7 and takes the eight-count. louis goes after charles with a vengeance, but charles survives the round: charles is shaken up and arcel needs to revive him, but louis is ready for action.

Round 2: charles tries to stay away, but is still skeken up from the previous round. louis measures and drops him with a crushing right. charles is slow in getting up at 9, and louis comes in to finish with an uppercut and two smashing hooks! the fight is over as the crowd is stunned in awe of louis destructive abilities.

buffer: "The winner by a knockout at 0:39 sec of the second round, Jooee Loouiiss!"

the crowd shows it's support for charles, as louis takes a 3-0 lead in the series. if charles loses the next fight, ezzard is automatically eliminated!

Louis: "Ezzard is a very good fighter, and he gave me some problems in the series. I'm just glad that I won."

Charles: "I'll have to dig deep next time, but I know I can beat him!"

what a demolition by the brown bomber. it just doesn't get any better than this. Tune in for fight #4 on saturday to see if louis eliminates charles right here in Cincinnati Gardens. now let's send the cameras over to Atlanta, GA.

My main criticism is these fighters going down like 11 times in a round. I just can't see that happening.

                    vs.

butterfly1964 here, and welcome to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA for fight #3 between holyfield and marciano. holyfield tied the series up at 1-1, but will marciano turn the tide? marciano came in again at 185, and holyfield was 210.

and marciano is now coming into the ring and mixed cheers and boos could be heard. and holyfield is in the ring and a loud roar of applause is heard! both men looked hungry and determined. here's the tale of the tape.

                    Evander Holyfield

                    age: 28
                    height: 6'-2"
                    weight: 210
                    reach: 77"
                    record: 25-0-0 (21ko)

                    Rocky Marciano

                    age: 30
                    height: 5'-11"
                    weight: 185
                    reach: 67"
                    record: 45-0-0 (40ko)

let's listen to ring announcer michael buffer.

buffer: "welcome to the geooorgia dooome, for this eastern matchup. Lllllllllets get ready to ruumbllllllleee! in the blue corner, from Brockton, Massachusetts, wearing white trunks with black trim, he stands 5'-11", he weighs one eighty-five, the Brockton Blockbuster, Roockyy Marciaanoooo! (a few boos could be heard) and in the red corner, from Atlanta, GA, he's wearing black trunks with white trim, he stands 6'-2, he weighs two ten, The Real Deal, Evaaaaaaandeeeeeeeer Hooooolyfiiiieeeeeeld! 15 rounds!"

as conn gives instructions, both men have a hungry look on their face.

Round 1: holyfield is on his toes, and marciano is in his croutch. holyfield lands his jab well, and marciano pounds the body when he can. both men now are trading punches and holyfield ties marciano up with his strength. holy boxes around m,arciano and looks pretty good.

Round 2: holyfield continues to stick out that jab and put some combinations together. marciano lands some good shots to evander and pounds the body when available. holy jabs and jabs, and tries to keep away. marciano is looking to close the gap, so he could use his leverage to punish evander. holyfield, though fights a smart fight.

Round 3: marciano finds his target slightly easier and is looking better. marciano does some inside work, while holy uses his strength to muscle rocky. holy's punches are puffing up the face of rocky. rocky still comes towards his opponent, and he lands some huge shots, but holy's chin takes them well. holy continues to work on that eye.

Round 4: holyfield is boxing well, landing his jab and making rocky miss. rocky looks sloppy and wild now. holyfield is sticking to his game plan and staying away. marciano is still pressing, but holyfield is a tad-bit faster. holyfield get consideration from the judges on this one.

Round 5: rocky's eye is now cut from evander's punches and evander still uses his jab and straight right to worsen it. rocky is landing better shots now, but his vision is slightly impaired. holy works on that cut, which is now bleeding steadily. marciano hurts holyfield with an unexpected suzie q, but he survives.

Round 6: in this round they get into cliches and both do some inside work. holy works the body and eye, and rocky works the body and arms. rocky's face looks pretty messy, but he fights on. holyfield is not hurting rocky, but rocky looks like he's in a sorry state indeed. as rocky eye continue to pour blood from every holyfield punch, rocky still presses the fight and lands some body shots that holy is able to take.

Round 7: marciano now goes after holy, but holy is too fast for him. holyfield is landing some good combinations and rocky face is bloody. holy continues to work on that eye and rocky tries to end the fight with one big punch. mark conn looks at that eye and can't take it anymore, so he stops the fight.

buffer: "the winner by tko on an eye cut, at 1:23 of the seventh round, evvvvandeeeeeer, hoooolyfiieeeeeld!!!"

the crowd is pleased. and so that is the end of today's matchups. tune in on friday, for the continuation of this first round, once again, our final scores, Part1-ali ud15, Part2-dempsey ko5, Part3-louis ko2, and Part4-holyfield tko7! this is butterfly1964 saying goodbye from Atlanta, GA!!!
